    • Engine Possiblity

Is it possible to create battle events and structures similar to that seen in Square games such as Chrono Trigger (a great game) and Final Fantasy Games. By this i mean semi turn-based scenes where players use attack, spells, items etc.. u know wot i mean, if u dont have a look at one of the games i mentioned above. Anyways, is this possibe because i think its a much better battle system than the point and clik system

    • The short answer is no, this is not a feature of the Coldstone Game Engine.

The long answer is yes, with some fairly intensive event scripting you can probably create a turn-based system. There has been a lot of discussion about this on this web board. Try searching previous posts for it. (There's a "Search" link in the upper right corner of this page.) Also, I believe ellrx has written s brief article/tutorial on this; I don't recall the link to his web site, but it's in his signature if you look at any post he's made recently.

      I don't know what I'm talking about.
Oh no, here comes another learning experience.
      Oderint dum metuant?

      ... That staples it.

    • personally, I don't know why you really do NEED a turn-based system. I am absoluteley fine with realtime-combat. Look at some of the most famous games out there - a few of which are all of the Zelda games, and all of the Diablo games. Even though I'm not a big fan of the Diablo games, It is one of the most popular games out there. You don't NEED a turn-based system, in my opinion. Also: do all users of CGE really play their RPG's with the mouse? I find that a little strange. A good ol' realtime rpg is definateley a keyboard game to me. Well, thats just me I guess.

Oh shoot, this is kinda spam... uh... talk to KamaShin. He's a happy user of the CGE turn-based system made by a whole bunch of events. There's my input.

::Opens and reads his own PDF::, In that edition you only create a total of
      5 events

      The second better planned out, step by step version you create a total of;
10 events, not counting adding the one necessary action to your Main event.
      (6 globals
      4 animations
      5 NPCs(templates)
      2 items
      2 graphics
      2 maps/locations)

      --------

You tell me, how many is a bunch? You can count that without taking off your shoes.

You are not alone...i didnt even know mouse control was possible untill i started reading posts that mentioned it...If you use the mouse and just click on a place, the computer does all the work for you. But if u actually plan out a route yourself, you can get it how you want it. 🙂

      EDIT:Spelling error

This is off-topic, but is your desire for image tags in your sig so great that you copy and paste that into every post?

Sorry man. I had no intention on insulting your pdf, I have never looked through it and assumed there were a bunch more events than there are. Simple mistake.

There is a reason that image tags are not allowed in signatures. This has been expressely disabled by the administration.

By-passing something that you aren't allowed to do is not recommended.
