    • What About Allies?

You know how you can't have a party, or NPCs that would follow you and attack monsters in a Coldstone game. Then what about how in the Spell Editor you can pick "Allies" when specifying the kind of target the spell will affect. What do they mean by allies if you cant have allies in Coldstone?

      So what if I'm paranoid.
There COULD be mind control drugs in my marshmellows.

It means, I believe, that if a hostile character casts the spell, it will affect all hostile characters. It doesn't have any effect when used by the player.

    • from the Q&A; with Dee 3/7/02:
<gladlad> Is there any way to make noncontrollable, friendly NPC's that follow you and attack things, like the hired hands in Diablo II?
      <Dee> gladlad: not yet
<Dee> Parties are one of the first thing I want to add in the next major version of Coldstone
<Dee> Actually, Coldstone actually supports different alignments/teams in its AI system -- it just doesn't use it, yet.
<celchu> And can we access them in the editor?
<Dee> celchu: no, this is no way of taking advantage of this system for now. Internally, the player is part of team 1, the passive NPCs of team 0 (neutral) and the others, of team -1. But the code is there to handle more team and fighting between monster groups.

maybe this is what the setting is for. something not yet in CGE

    • Accually you can have allies but they will attack anything but you. have an NPC be a defensive caster and make a spell that targets allies and have the spell do damage. Of course it only will make a ranged attacker, and ally spells will not help them they still help you. If you want them to follow you through the whole game make a global set just for them.
