      AutoCAD & Bare bones Plug

Hey all, two quick questions. First off, being a student engineer, I am very familiar with, and have a copy of AutoCAD (2005). Can I use that to make ships? I'm also learning Inventor, VIZ and the Civil Package. Any of those work? Also, I recall there being a "bare bones" data file with just the basic stuff needed to make Nova run. Does anyone have that? I want to do some experiments without having to deal with the universe.
      Cheers.

    • No idea about the first.

For the second, have a look for 'Absolute Minimum' on the Ambrosia add-ons page under EVN Utilities.

    • If AutoCAD can render sprites with at least 36 frames of animation, yes. You'd have to render the ship(s) from 36 different perspectives and stitch those frames together using a program like SpinApp which you can get from the utilities section of the add-ons page.

I'd rather rotate the ship then change the perspective. 😉
I think AutoCAD should do just fine.
