Actually, this is a known bug with OS X 10.2.

There's a topic in the FAQ just about this bug: (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum66/HTML/000027.html")http://www.AmbrosiaS...TML/000027.html(/url)

      And the work around:

So if you have an old saved game file, use that name when you save, and PoG will ask if you want to replace it. Say yes, and you should be all set.

If you don't have any old files, use TextEdit to create a blank text document. Then go to the Format menu and select the "Make Plaintext" option. Save it and name it something like "Saved Game.pog", with the .pog being the crucial part. You'll get a message saying,

"Document name Saved Game.pog already seems to have an extension. Append '.txt' anyway?"

Click on Don't append. Then move this file into the PoG folder.

Then open PoG, and start a new game. Save it to the PoG folder and use the name above. PoG will ask if you want to replace it. Say Yes.

Then when you want to open that game, you will have to drag that file onto the PoG app, and it will open. You won't be able to Load that game, it will be greyed out. Just double click on the saved game file, or drag and drop it onto the App itself.

Good luck with PoG ! 🙂

Some time ago, I set up the challenge of having someone beat the entire game with no cheat plugins and all storyline plugins activated. The only time that you could save would be for time reasons (ex. if you have to go to bed, then you could save on a map with no creatures, and can load the game to continue when you are more awake, but you cannot load if you died). As for the status of the update, please see (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum61/HTML/001379.html")this thread(/url).

Are you talking to dstsein? If so, then I have to agree with you.

    • Bear with me, but this is a new windows to mac convert talking.

What exactly is meant by "drag" the file onto the application? Drag the save-game file's icon onto the application window, or the program's icon in the dock, or on the icon in the game folder, or somewhere else? I've tried double clicking the save game's icon, but all I get is the standard game, the opening menu, and a sort of "You idiot." 'donk' from my computer. Running OSX (10.2), enjoying PoG, and just reached level 1. Would like to continue, but haven't been able to get back in. Any help?

Try dragging on the app icon (in the dock, in the finder). You can also open the program and choose load and navigate to the file.
Hmm.. I thought double-clicking works, ah well.

    • Thanks for the attempt, macmax, but all I get when I drag to the save game to the app icon in the dock is another 'donk', whether or not the game is running. Now the game is not yet registered, but I'm willing to bet that registering doesn't fix the save game bug, does it?

      Any other ideas?

    • Do you really need to drag the save game file onto the PoG app? I didn't have to. I created the TextEdit document, changed the extension to .pog, put it in my saved games folder, then I overwrote it so that it would save. If I had to load, then I would use the Load button on the main screen. It worked for me.
