When I looked at the ev bible it tells you how to clean you record or give them an item but not how to let them buy it.

When editing the ship resource, set the availability to whatever Mission Bit the mission completes. That's sort of rambling, so here's an example: If the CompBitSet is 10, then the Mission Bit availability for the ship should also be 10. That way, the player must complete that mission before they can buy the ship.

EV-Edit is a good effort, but it lacks stability and has an unfortunate tendency to corrupt data. If you absolutely feel that you must use it, be sure to back up your work very frequently. And don't complain to us when it eats your 90%-completed plug.

EV-Edit is maybe the buggiest editor on Earth, and as what you want to do isn't -much- complicated, and EV-Edit doesn't take care of this (i.e. you still have to define CompBitSets and AvaliableBitSet), you shouldn't need it.
