    • Help with photoshop sprites...

      Hello.
I want to know if anyone knows how to make shadow effects on ship sprites using photoshop?

I need it for my upcoming plug...

Oh, and i also need someone to help me with my mission programming too...

      insantiy and ingenious is
      measured just by success.

    • Uhh... you can't, without a lot of work. All high-quality sprites are done in 3D programs and then rendered into the individual frames at different angles. This also allows for 3D sprites.

Both Strata3D and Mechanisto are free 3D programs that can be very good with a bit of work.

If you insist on using photoshop, you have to individually edit each frame: it's a lot of work.

    • There may be a plug for making shadow effects in Photoshop, depends on what version you have. Try (url="http://"http://www.Adobe.com")http://www.Adobe.com(/url) Other than that, the only way that I know would be drawing them by hand, a prosses that gets very tiring.

    • Two ideas come to mind that you might wanna try.
Go to filters->?stylize?->lighting effects I thinks that might be the route but look for the lighting effects find the spot light and make it black. then aim it where you want the shadow. OR you could try darkening the whole thing and aiming a white light at the opposite side of where you want the shadow to create a real shadow. I haven't tried these ideas out but I will right now and post the results tomorrow or wednesday. I suggest trying them yourself and generally guessing around on PS to get what you want.

    • Ok, it works. I have Photoshop 4 and the effect came with it so I assume you will have this
Make sure it is in RGB mode or a mode where you can access filters (RGB is my preference)
      Filters->Render->Lighting Effects
Jack around with it for the correct shadows that you would like 😉
Thanks for giving me something to do, it has been a boring spring break for me since I got home from skiing.
If you have any other Photoshop needs feel free to post them here or email me at DWilliams__@yahoo.com
(cut and paste that, there are two _'s, and for some reason saying that doesn't help some people)
I will be glad to figure something out for you!
