    • Convert your EVO pilot to a EVN pilot

What is Pilot Converter? Pilot Converter allows one to translate an EV or EVO pilot file into an EVN style pilot file. What with the upcoming ports of EV and EVO for Nova, this will allow people to continue to play in their favorite universe(s) without having to make a new pilot.

I will be placing the compressed application and read me on the Escape Velocity Add-ons site by the end of today, but for now, please visit
      (url="http://"http://hellskitchen.org/~seant/EV/PilotConvert/")http://hellskitchen....V/PilotConvert/(/url)

You want version two if you want to translate up to Nova. Version 1 only translates EV to EVO.

If people discover any problems, or have any comments, please email me at seant@hellskitchen.org

A question- does this simply take the file format and change it from EVO pilot to EVN pilot- because if so, I'm not sure if the data fields will translate properly. In fact, I'm pretty certain they won't.

And don't you listen to these nitwits. Nova's a great game and don't let anyone tell ya otherwise. Better or worse than EVO? Who gives an african monkey's nads?

I think he answered this in a similarly named topic (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum6/HTML/002827.html#")on the EV board(/url). If that doesn't make sense, you could check the other topic (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum26/HTML/010802.html#")on the EVN board(/url).

That does help- I think it proves that the converter really doesn't work. He himself admits that the pilot's data will be all messed up, along with just about everything else- mission bits included. The only real point seems to be to have the same pilot name, which you could do as easily with starting a new one..

Actually, now that I'm really reading this, it sounds like it will work... if you have the EV/O port plugins and it hasn't changed things like resource numbers and mission bits. Then if you had an EV/O pilot with a plugin, you'd need the Nova plugin version, again with no changed resource numbers or bits.

To have a 1:1 relationship between EV and EVN, you need ports of your EV plugins, the EV data files, and your EV pilot.

but I think that his program works on the pilot, the (un)official ports are the data files, and Port Authority (if it ever comes out) will do the plugin bit.

Wow. Libel. The converter works just fine, thank you. Just make sure you have a port of EV or EVO that doesn't mess with the resource ids and the translated pilot will be just like the original in the TC under Nova.

Please try things before passing such critical judgement.

    • Excuse me, but does this work to and from EV/EVO and EVN(EV(O)<->EVN šŸ˜•

      ------------------

    • Could you rephrase your question?

As I understand it, Pilot Converter converts the pilot that was used in either EVC or EVO into an EVN pilot file. When used with the EVC or EVO total conversion plugins for EVN, these converted pilots retain all the qualities they had when used with the actual EV and EVO games. Basically, it makes it so you can just use your old pilots in the total conversion plugins for EVN.

And seant said in his first post in this topic that one version of Pilot Converter converts pilots from EVC to EVO.

I hope that helped. If that didn't answer your question, rephrase it so that it's abundantly clear what you mean.

It is true that an older version exists that does this. I discourage people from using it, however, as I feel people should make the transition to EVN if at all possible. It is a superior engine and plugin for EV or EVO made for use under the EVNgine would have the options of more goodies to work with.

Plus I'd like to see AMbrosia get the financial compensation they deserve. I made the the pilot converters to encourage people to make the upgrade, so upgrade, my friends. Upgrade.
