Nothing except perhaps an Igazra can go head to head with the Voinian Dreadnought. I find that if you want the job done, a fighter really is the answer. Why? They recharge quickly, whereas warships are more of a "use and then...if it's not dead, restart" type ship. I've done the mission in a U.E. fighter all but one time (the last time, I went straight to my beloved Crescent Fighter), and it's more fun that way. Plus, once you've got the hang of the fighter, you are invincible to the dreadnought (except when you slip up).

The only thing that threatens a good fighter pilot is an Azdara with an afterburner...especially when you're a conservative bastard like me, who refuses to use anything that drains fuel or use finite ammunition.

    • Yes, it's possible to kill the dreadnaught in a fighter. It just takes a long time
With the UE Cruiser, you can get yourself some escorts very fast, add the fighters and the dreadnaught is dead in a matter of seconds.

    • Fighters...great ships! My UE Cruisers Fighter Bay is great!
5 UE Fighters hack Crescentwarship into pieces in couple of
seconds.Itยดs funny to look it! But itยดs not related anyway
to this topic...I just had to say it

Don't dis da UE fighter! I managed to take out both the Dreadnaught and it's prototype (with attached escort) in one of them little red machines.
It's actually quite a lot of fun, and with 4 blaze cannons not all that slow...

    • I destroyed the drednaught with a UE destroyer loadid with the following
3phase turrets because of there supereor range meaning I could shoot at him and he cant do crap to me
and also rockets for that extra bit of damage
      hope that helps

    • You could always download Shayborg's Super Crescent Warship, a cheat plug-in which you could rape the hell out of the dreadnaught but that wouldn't be fun would it. Well this was something I would of suggest:

If you accepted a mission where you have to deliver the Voinian defector to Paaren Station, don't complete it yet as you will have an escort fleet. Use that with the 4 destroyers and any UE warship that's there already and let these guys do the dirty work, and whatever's left, you can finish off the dreadnaught.

    • Oh yeah, did I forget to mention you can always adjust the speed of the game? Yes, I've done that before and it helps to saturate the destructive power of my weapons even though the timelife span of the weapons remains constant which decreases the range of my weapons.

Slowing the game down to 100% or lower can help. Keep in mind though that while your weapon can be saturated, theirs can too. So it's best to hit them at a blindspot if you can.

    • The Dreadnought was the easiest "tough mission" that I did. I was in a freight-courier with rockets, cloak, three blaze turrets and armor. I blasted into the system and immediately ran away from the Dreadnought. It fired its interceptors. I disableed each one with a rocket and boarded them. once I had got about 7, they attacked the Dreadnought. I went back to see was had happened, and before I could see the dreadnought for the first time, I heard several small explosions and then a big one. The Dreadnought was nowhere in sight. I got my 5 mil.

    • Attack the Dreadnaught in something that mounts a rocket launcher. Stay away from the the Dreadnaught while it launches its carried fighters. I think there's about ten of them, of the interceptor type. If you stay away, they will have to come at you one at a time, strung out in a line.

Disable the fighters, but don't destroy them. Once all the fighters are destroyed, circle round (so the dreadnaught doesn't overfly any disabled fighters) and attack it with your rockets from long range. Do not close to gun range.

When you run out of rockets, use TAB to find a disabled Voinian fighter, and board it. Take all the rockets, then try to adopt the ship as one of your escorts as well. From each fighter you should get about five rockets. Don't board a ship until you have room for its rockets.

Slam every single rocket back into the Dreadnaught. Any fighters you have managed to capture as escorts will add to the carnage. By the time the supply is exhausted, the Dreadnaught should be all but dead. Close to gun range with caution, and finish him off.

If you're desperate for rockets, you might consider plundering any disabled UE ships that are left in the system... though this might have consequences for you legal status.

That's all the tactics I ever needed ๐Ÿ™‚

Uhm, there's nothing but advice in this topic...Have you tried any of them?

    • Get yerself a fighter (preferably a cresent fighter, but as I said in a previous post, UE fighters are also good. Hint- don't use a krait.), fit it with dospect and as many blaze weapons as it can fit.

When you get in the system, ensure that the Dread has fired off all it's rockets and start to make strafing runs at the wee beastie. You're sheild and armour restore fast enough to allow you to turn it to slag eventually...

    • I stripped down an Igazra and loaded it with Pursuit Missiles. It didn't work, but it was fun to watch.

Ships are safe in harbor but that's not what ships are for

    • the monty python will work if you have long range weapons like phase or neutron.

but what i usualy do is complete the parren station missions and the UE Cruiser missions. then i buy myself a UE Cruiser sell my fighterbay(outfit mods) load up on neutron turrets and rockets as many as the ship will hold. then i jump into Vorik and let the destroyers do their thing while i hunt down the fighters and frigates killing them off. finaly when the system is clear of any Voinian ships other than the dreadnought i move in for the kill. (by then the destroyers are dead already but if your lucky there will still be one or two) now i simply park and blast the living **** out of him with my vast array of rockets and neutrons. (note: if you dont have outfit mods the fighters are a good decoy so use the same strategy.)

and here is a trick for ya: dont leave the system till the dreadnought has blown up, if you jump out while its still in the prosess of exploding then you will have to do it again.

now if that doesnt work....go learn some piloting skills.

This isn't exactly the cheapest strategy. monty pythoning it will probably work whit most ships as long as you stay out of range
