    • Can't DL full game

      I'm having problems DLing the full game.

      First I did not have stuffit 6.5.1. Got that. Now I'm DLing POG full (for mac) at speeds that are too high to be possible (3.7 Mbytes/sec) on DSL. Stuffit then tells me that the file is corrupted. I just paid for a registration, so I'd like to be able to play the full game

      A few things:

      1. Ambrosia SW has just released Deimos Rising, so things tend to be a bit screwy.
      2. Try downloading the software again.
      3. It is available from a CD, which you can order along with the registration -- if you didn't order, contact AmbrosiaSW to see if you can add it to your order.
      4. It is available on a number of Magazine CDs, including MacAddict (if I'm not mistaken).

      Thanks for trying, but none of those helped. I've tried to find a WORKING mirror for DLing PoG, but so far no luck, just dead links.

      1. It is available on a number of Magazine CDs, including MacAddict (if I'm not mistaken).

      It is in Macaddict 64!

      Have you succeeded in downloading the large file? If so, what size is it? Some version of Stuffit are buggy as hell and can report the file has being corrupted while it isn't. If the file is the correct size (about 148MB), chances are that the problem is on Stuffit side. Try to get a old version, it may help.

      Also, as Starkiller mentionned, this is a heavy week for Ambrosia's server. Not only Deimos Rising has been released but PoG for windows, the mac update, and Trinity have also been released. I have a hard time just to have this web board loading so...

      I used fetch and was able to DL it successfully. Yay for me! The speed at which I was DLing seems to indicate it wasn't anything to do with stuffit. Something a bit strange to be getting speeds of 3.6 Mbytes/sec on a home DSL line. I'm supposedly only two blocks from the Pac Bell switch, but come on! 3.6 Mbytes/sec is fast enough to stream DV NTSC! Anyway, alls well that ends better, as the Gaffer was wont to say.

      I've had ridiculously high download speeds before. Have you tried to download PoG before? My high download speeds were due to the fact that I'd already tried to download something and Netscape had stored it in a cache. When I downloaded it again netscape already had most of it and so it 'downloaded' very quickly.
