    • If you can stand the heat...

How in the world are you supposed to complete this level with that stupid wall of fire following you all the time? You have to run really quick, and you get no time to kill enemies or do anything practically. And you can't turn back. So how?

You've answered your own question: You have to run really quick, and you get no time to kill enemies or do anything practically.

You can go back later and collect xichrons, rez necklaces, etc. later, although there are a few things I've never been able to get (like one particular smite ring to the left of a door).

Here's a hint - try using your V blade as you run - the portions of the levels are one on top of another, so sometimes you can kill enemies below as you pass by above.

But all in all - practice, practice, practice. Good luck!

    • Also, near the end of the level, there is a button. Tell me if you get stuck on that part, tell me because many people have.

That was the most painful part of the levels, in my opinion (apart from Xichra, which I haven't beaten yet because of that dribbling fire seed bug). It took me at least 20 tries to get it pushed.

    • I also used to tape the shift key down so I could run through without having to hold it down. After you go through everything and have the fire necklace you can always go back through the fire levels utilizing the saves you may have left vacant.

Actually I worked it out by myself before I got swallowed by fire! (I worked it out by accident)

    • I can't work the button out for myself and am REALLY aggravated. If anybody can help, it's at the point where it's making me sick of the game. I try shooting fire seeds through the cannon, but the stone always ends up at the edge of the platform, and so can't be pushed towards the button. At least it seems that way. I would really appreciate any tips or hints. Thank you!

Once you shot the fire seeds in the cannon, go into the cannon and jump over the rock, then push it to the left, once you have done that, make sure it is pressing the button. Then run as fast as you can to the end of the level.

    • Thanks so much for trying to help, but I'm afraid I'm still confused. The problem is that I know what to do, but seem to be a little too dense to do it. I get to the stone, but the screen image of Ferazel won't connect with it to push it to the left. Because he's so close to the edge, he 'goes through' the stone, leaving me to die each time. Nobody else is having this problem so it must be me, but if anyone can clarify what I'm doing wrong it would save me having to throw myself out into traffic. Thank you!

    • No, you're not the only one to ever have this trouble. Back when these boards were really active I had to send my level to one of the "guru's" for them to get me through that particular spot. Same problem - couldn't push the stone.

Here is how I do it:
(I've never had any success with the fire seed way, but mind you, never heard of doing it that particular way until this week!)

Shoot the middle of the rock away with your boomerang, but leave the top, with the rolling stone, portion untouched.
Climb into the area underneath the stone (walk over the button). Switch to your Vblade. Stand underneath the rolling stone and use the Vblade. The stone will drop and you can push it into the button. Run like heck.

Used to take me 40 to 50 tries to get through. I can do it now on the first or second try, so if you're really stymied, email me your saved level (compressed please) and I will do it and send it back to you with a save at the next save spot. But it is more fun to finally succeed yourself!

    • You're an angel!! THANK YOU!! I haven't done it, but now have at least been able to try during the failing. I appreciate the offer of help, but agree with your sentiment and would rather beat the game under my own power...it's bad enough I have to resort to begging for help here.

It's been about twenty tries and counting. I might change my tune if I get into the triple digits. LOL

      Wow, I'm a guru 😉

My method was a little more complex than MonsterLady's (it also involved leaving the top piece of rock under the stone, climbing up the side of it and jumping out while holding 'left' to come back and whack the stone onto the button).

    • SPEAKING of the next level . . . it has driven me crazy! I've spend hours being burned to death time and time and time again. Had to give up in frustration. Any hints? Does it get any better after this (if not, I should maybe retire) . . .

      Thanks for your help.

I've found that when running through that particular level it is good to have your "V blade" on and just fire it constantly as you run. You'll take out a lot of barriers that would otherwise slow you down.

You'll find that after 4 or 5 hundred run throughs you'll finally get it.

    • Wow. I've been stuck on this level so long I gave up for many moons. Now, having completed a year-long project I thought I'd reward myself by trying again. You sure have helped with this one. THANKS.

    • You MUST keep the shift key down the entire time. When you're running and have to climb, jump and and keep going. Mostly it's just a matter of getting lucky and practice

In my opinion, (drat. I wish I knew how to spell that!) Parched Earth is another one of the most hated levels in the game. And it's all because of that damn timer!
