Hey all. Due to all the "technical" ::cough cough::: difficulties the beloved creator of our game seems to encounter whenever he tries to post here, he has tried a different approach this time. Namely, he's decided to channel through me. What can I say? I am an empty vessel. The perfect channeling choice.

Let me get comfy and chant the proper channeling jargon. ::: pressing fingers to either side of temples:: Come in Ben Spees...we're calling you....do you copy?

"(I am) considering doing an unofficial update of the game and/or the editor. Given a limited amount of time to work on it, what would be, say, the top 5 changes, fixes, or improvements that people would like to see? Or, if there was "just one thing" (other than Carbonization) they could have, what would it be? The new versions would not be sold or officially released by Ambrosia, but they would be publicly available. The update would be solely for the sake of the fans."

There you go. What's your wish list? Keep in mind that major engine overhaul is rather out of the question. We're talking pretty much minor bugs and tweaks. But wait...I have another incoming message..hang on..

/me has two nits to pick.

PLEASE get rid of the bug where Ferazel can't drop fire/zirdium seeds for random reasons. That is the upmost of annoying.

This is less of an issue but a boss/enemy editor for the game, or at least instructions on how to code such, would be very very cool.

Funny, I was listening to my Electric Doormat playlist when I read this. This is very, very cool. I never thought this would happen. Wow. It's like Christmas in March.

Ferazel's Wand: What Dr. Tall said, if Xichra's Lair worked perfectly without any bugs, that would be great awesome.
MASCOT: I think any changes would be to complicated. What about just more info released? How to make bosses, levels from scratch, pxBackgrounds and all that confusing stuff?

Also, the whole thing with Moki, is very discouraging. I don't know what Moki's reasoning or problem is, but it sounds very immature, and is depriving the fans.

Wow, spamguy just walks out the door and cool stuff happens.

Activation of some of the available spells that don't work would be a major plus. Particularly the energy ball - giving light in really dark places.

And please, please, please can we have an explanation, of how the backgrounds work, particularly the PX mids, which I can't seem to get working on any of my levels.

Well I think we'd have to vote on this because it's both good and bad, but possibly changing the fact that only sprites onscreen can have any effect on the game.

Of course, I'm not sure if this is possible

Also, there are those bug fixes for the world data needed, for example the O&E; level where one can't get 100% on it. I think we can all work together to fix up those levels.

One last thing: is it possible to have the main menu and the titles be able to use thousands of colors?

Yes! I emailed him about this a few days ago, and got a detailed reply no less than 10 min. later.

Ferazel's Wand: Carbonization, no doubt about it. Second chice would probably be a way to load custom titles/world data from the startup screen. After that, activation of the rat hole enemy, and a horizontal rock barrier.

Mascot: Carbonization!! After that, and easier-to-use conversation editor. And signs that use the conversation editor.

Cabonization would be my major wish, I've been looking here less and less because of the trouble of carbonization.

after that it would be nice to include an open other world option from the main menu (like in Harry) having to change file names gets to be a pain after a while.

Keep in mind, Ben is doing this out of the kindness of his abnormally large heart. Carbonization sounds rather hard. I would love it, too, but...

An Open World Command would be nice, but again, I don't know how hard it is to do. I think if the original couple bugs were eradicated, and some more MASCOT info released, I would be a happy camper.

I think FW partially loads the world data before it gets to the main menu. If you try changing the world data file while the game is open, you get the right sprites, etc., but the backgrounds and tilesets are the ones from the previous level set. Therefore, it might be difficult for Ben, although I'm sure he'd be very willing to try.

hmm... a select level option within the game... maybe I shouldn't rewrite MASCOTJuggler...

SO it looks like what people want, in order of importance:

• Carbonization in FW and MAscot, or if that is too much work, only in FW. This would be the "one big thing."
• An option to load FW levels from the startup screen
• misc. bugs fixed
• activation of unused bosses/spells. Might be kinda hard, though
• Updated Mascot documentation.,

I would be thrilled if only Mascot and FW were carbonized. That's all I need.

Gosh, with the release of EVN imminent, and now this, it really is an early christmas

If you read what Ben originally said, he made it fairly clear he won't be doing carbonization on either application.

So "other than carbonization" what would you like to see done?
