    • This might do the trick for you.

If you want, you can explain where you're stuck and someone here will tell you where to go from there.

thank you. Problem not solved though. There is no walkthrough that tells me missions, and I've already read that.

    • Mission threads for EVC aren't as complicated as Nova. If you're playing for the Rebels, most of the time missions can be picked up on Rebel planets. If you're not progressing, you might need to increase your pilot rating, or your standing with the Rebels. If you're in the middle of a mission and forgot where to go next, do as Destroyer E suggested and someone can help you.

    • When I saw this topic on the main page I first thought Callide needed help with EV....

I knew it couldn't be true....

    • reply to all: Thank you for the information. I am a good egg in every rebel system, and my combat rating is excellent. I am not in any missions that don't repeat.

    • for both the storylines to get the Last mission you need an ultimate combat rating. (It takes years to get :()

      Thought I'd warn you....

Sometimes I do. It's been ages since I've played the stock scenario so I frequently need help remembering. 😄

What exactly is the problem? Did you forget what to do next? Can't find any missions at all?

Try bumping up your combat to Deadly. As the missions progress you will need to increase your rating.

I can't find any missions at all. In fact, I started a new pilot and accidentally overwrote that one. I'm depressed now. 😞

    • That's a bummer. 😞

The Rebel string starts with someone dropping a note in your lap asking you to meet them somewhere. You can pick it up at a Rebel planet, like Palshife.

The Confed string starts with a package delivery, which you can pick on on an independent planet, iirc. Maybe you inadvertently started the Confed string?

Hint: Before joining a faction, make a back up copy of your "generic" pilot file, that way you don't have to start all over to play the other side.

Also, missions are available only around 15% of the time, so you need to keep checking the bar.

I had a rebel cloaking device. I checked about 50 times for the recent mission, each time jumping out of the system to go get another planet. I also checked confed planets (fake id) just as many times. Now I'm trying to find where the bits are stored through a hexeditor, but not much luck.

Well PM me with any queries if you want (if you don't know how to PM people then... 😄 )

When was the last time you played EVC?

Try to keep on topic, please. Can anyone tell me how to decipher a pilot file with a hexeditor? I'm afraid I just can't seem to get it to work.

    • Your next mission from the Rebels needs a deadly rating (12800).
What exactly are your trying to decipher in your pilot file? The pilot log tells you everything.

(edit) Oh right, you lost your pilot. Make a plug with a mission that sets all the same bits listed in your log above.

    • Well, you can make a mission to do that, but missions do require a fair amount of work to get functional. It's nothing too ridiculous, but if you're just trying to do a one-off fix, you could just create an outfit that sets the relevant bits on purchase (since you have a pilotlog, I think you have to be in EVC on Nova, right?). Or just modify an existing outfit temporarily - so you go buy a single missile, for instance, and it sets the bits for you. Outfits have a field called OnPurchase, and you just put "b35 b36" and so on into that field. It's just a lowercase b followed by the number of the bit you want to set. Search the EVN Bible for "set expressions" if you need more details. Install the plugin, buy the item, takeoff to save, quit, remove the plugin, relaunch, sell the item, and you should be all set.

Okay...That still doesn't fix the money/weapon/ship problem, though. 😞 Thanks for telling me how to fix the bits.

    • There are billions of money cheats on the addons which will most likely work fine with the EVC port. Once you have enough money you can easily buy back your previous ship and outfits.

Howabout combat rating and legal status in systems?
      reputation

    • Best way to do that would be to create a new char resource (chars are easy) which sets those stats and then start a new pilot. While you're at it you can make the char give you lots of cash and the ship you had and set all the appropriate bits on start. Then you don't need to bother about making missions or outfits.
