    • We need a webstory...

This is not a sign-up sheet, so do not start with "I wanna be the Rebels/Confeds/Atinoda/Maskirova".

I am thinking of creating a webstory, however i am somewhat inexperianced having only created one webstory of my own in the past (personally i think it did pretty well considering the dead-like state the EVO board was in at the time).

If I am to start a webstory i will require a set of rules. Since I want as much participation as possible, I would like to hear some rule ideas from the future players so as to make as many people happy as possible. So please, start suggesting.

"I- I Swear Officer.. The Dwarf was on fire when I got here!"
Sorry -REDCHIGH-, It just fit so well.

      (list=1)
() Moderators can not be players
      (
      ) No one post battles
() Obey the Mods or you will be ignored
      (
      ) Obey normal EV Science
      (/list=a)

      Thats all i got.

    • I think that mods can be allowed to be players if they mod and play fairly and you have neutral mods that can intervene if there is a need.

No non-EV ships or tech is also a good rule, though you need prices to be rebalanced in such a case.

"Certainly. A Secretary of Defense must thirst for blood. He must love nothing more than to see the enemy cower before him, begging for mercy. But you must not be merciful. • The EVO board has a webstory (probably already legally dead, but I don't give up easily, "Origin") which has empty slots (Zidagar, Igadzra at least). It'll be nice to see if something will get off the ground here anyway. I'd go basically common sense rules.

Based on Reign of Chaos: (Edit)Other then deletion these are the Reign of Chaos words, I should give the Esponer/Silver Dragon the credit he deserves.(/Edit)
      1. No single post battles or major events.
      2. No controlling of other people's characters.
      3. Moderators retain the right to deny any post, without explanation (although an explanation will probably be given).
      4. Technology must be stated when it begins, and any moderation on technology must be accepted. Moderators retain the right to moderate a technology as late as when it is first used, if they did not understand the capabilities. You are encouraged to add how far into development a technology you are researching is.
      5. Please try and be fair in all your posts to avoid moderation and stalling of the game.
      6. Specifics are not required. Economy reports do not exist, but you are asked to keep track of when you'll be low on money.
      7. No time based technologies or otherwise invincible technologies. Also, the realms of sub-space are to be avoided (any technology that allows you to leave and re-enter the universe)
      8. No killing anyone else's character.

The Cheat, would you please explain "Obey normal EV Science" to the best of your ability? It sounds interesting, but i fail to grasp what exactly you mean.

I agree that mods can be players provided they do their best not to be biased.
I do however intend to allow some new technology and ships, but not so many as to revamp the entire Confederation Navy. A couple ships and maybe 4-5 new techs per government/corporation shouldn't do too much harm.

Paranoid, thank you for that set of rules. I will probobly use most of them.

I like those rules aswell, however more may be needed to prevent the overly imaginative/intelligent from gaining an upper hand.

All members will be given a chance to sign up when i feel i have all the rules and such in line (it may take a while as i am easily distracted from things so dont get too hyped up about it).

I like what i see so far. Any further ideas are appreciated.

I thought giving moderators the right to deny any action without reason would be helpful enough to keep the overly creative in line. It also gives the moderators a bit of power, but you'll just have to avoid corruption as best you can.

    • If we do a webstory then there should be no new technology. None. Everyone is 100% aware of what the Normal EV Weapons are capable of. I am in favor of maybe making new ships that use only the Normal EV technology, and have stats that are rated in the same kind of number system that EV ships are.

But if we haul of and make 50 "t3h uber 1337 Guns de El Death-O" This webstory will go nowhere, die, flouder, sink, explode, implode, get ****ed anally.

So yeah, I'd like to be a part of it.

spl_cadet, UE Admiral, I don't know that I can trust player mods. No offense, but wih some of the things people did in a certain past webstory, I just don't know if player mods are a good idea. Unless, of course, we really need a few more players.

We are using the normal EV Universe, no?

We are using the Money per fleet system, and money to government per planet system, no?

We are going to try and keep the wheel before the ferrari, no?

You'd be surprised... Still, I haven't been involved in a good webstory in a long time and would be glad to either play or moderate.

No, there will be none of that. I intend to reveiw all tech/ships before it begins research.

    • I'd recommend a typical monetary system. Governments need to spend maybe 60% on ships if they own shipyards and get income from either trading deals or just the existence of populated spobs. Mercenaries and independents without base systems can earn income through deals with governments. Monetary income should be limited pretty heavily, we don't need 100,000 warship battles.

As for the technology, it may be better without or at least with extremely strict moderation. Eliminating it does take some strategical interest out of the game, but then people can invest more time into plot development.

Who invented this wheel? I'm not a fan of hexagons.

    • I realy, really like the idea of implementing a trading system. But it might get tough unless someone wants to step up and make one up.

I must stress the need for SOME extra technology. We will have players playing indipendants, and they cant be limited to Kestrels as they would then have no way to keep up if a major govt attacked them. Indies will need at very least frigate-destroyer class vessels.

Trade really sounds good. and i have some ideas that might allow destruction of trade convoys. 😃
Give me time and a few reminders and i might come up with a good trade system.

I don't have a problem with incorperating new ships, as long as they use EV tech. Independants would get whipped like cream, yeah. 🙂

    • Aren't independents supposed to be whipped like cream? Isn't that what they're there for? Creamy goodness...

If a trading system is designed I'd say keep it simple Maybe give each planet a specific import product and a specific export product and earn the same for anything that happens. Governments (including independents) would have reduced profits by 20% (to pay expenses) and mercenaries/traders could make the full amount. Did I say simple? I meant unbearably complex. I'm sure that just about anything would be better then this idea.

      Life, Death. What's the difference?

    • How about this: For every ship one distroyes, they get a % of the losers money. If they are part of a gonverment, they get payed X amount of money. The Government gets Y money per day from traders trading (NPCs).

    • I'm game. I'll take control of Antinoda(sp?) if it's allowed. That would add some interesting twists on independants, as I'd control their capital ship productions.

Also, we do need a plot. Is this going to be an alien war, civil war, or just some random thing set afterwards.

If you think about it, carnage can be good for you.

    • When it comes to independents: Let's not do the big corporations, but limit it to the pirates and perhaps a handful of independent worlds in a small alliance. These would then get a small side benefit to help them out since they wouldn't have the resources of the big players (ie, in Battle for Sol II, the Pirates didn't have to reveal their starting position, thought it couldn't be in Rebel, Alien, or Confed space).
