without plug-ins. Get alot of money, from dominating planets (if you dominate just the independants and easy federation ones you should still be able to get like 50,000 a day), then go to New Istanbul and hire 6 Kestrel escorts. This takes a LOT of money (1 million per ship plus like 1 million per day for your fleet), so have like 25 or 30 million beforehand. Go to Gamera where the aliens are, cloak yourself, and tell your kestrels to attack the alien CRUISER. It will take some time, and you might have to make some appearances to get the attack going again, but you should be able to kill it. Also, make sure you have enough fuel to keep cloaked for a while.

Ah, that's cheap. I remember I cloaked the first time, but it's not any fun that way. Actually, I cloaked and they got beat by some pirates and the normal rebel escorts. Still very cheap.

When I first did the Alien mission I was the luckiest son of b****. I was just trying to avoid the fighters and shoot them down with Rockets (not a smart move) and just about all the rockets hit the Alien Cruiser instead, it died in like 1 minute, I've never been able to duplicate it.

Personally, I've never really had much difficulty with the Alien mission in the first place. I find it easiest to do it with a Corvette, not a Kestrel, as the Corvette's superior turning and speed make it easier to remain behind the Cruiser, and out of the way of its 'fusion beam'.

The cruiser turns so slow, that you can stay behind it in most any ship. I even used the "park behind the cruiser" strategy with a Confed Cruiser, and it worked. So as Guapo said, learn to fly

One problem: Dominating well paying planets without a cheating plug-in is hard!

Gah! You're all a bunch of wimpy noobs! Tux, this has probably been brought up a bazillion times, so use the search feature. And take the cruiser out with some damn style and do it in an Argosy, at the very least. And dominating planets is a peice of cake. Just look up which ones have crap defence fleets, stock up on missiles and then blast their crappy fighters out of the sky. There's probably only around 16 planets with more than 26 fighters.

There pay is horrible! Even if you dominate Earth they only pay 5,000 a day. I did it before!

Completed it after about the 10th try

Just stayed behind the cruiser and blasted away with Laser Cannons and Javelin Rockets.
