Old topic filled up pretty fast, so I thought I'd start a new one. Here's my latest project:

Manta II Medium Fighter

= - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - =
Basically a heavier version of the original Manta. Better shielding (and some armor), a bit more speed, four laser cannons and two javelin pods (not to mention three missiles), and one heck of a dogfighter. I plan on using this same model to make a version more similar to the original Manta, lacking the javelin pods and additional wings. Tel me what you think.

I'll try to have this guy up for download over at (url="http://"http://saberstudios.evula.net")Saber Studios(/url) as soon as I can.

I love the arcade. There's this one game near the middle where you put in a dollar and win four quarters, and I win every time! They even have games in the bathrom, look! I won a balloon!

That looks great. Only two things about it bug me. 1) The cockpit has too many little bars. While it is more realistic, it almost looks decorative. Like frilly, or something... I mean those little bars that make triangles out of the bigger bars. 2) The engines look a bit excessive. You should cut it down to 2, or just make them a bit smaller. Or you could make one big engine that was very long but short, sort of like a rounded rectangle or something. Just a thought.

1. Realism is my goal. I originally had a much nicer-looking cockpit design, but turned it down after designing a more protected one. If you were one of those fighter pilots, wouldn't you want some of that nice tough metal surrounding your cockpit? I would. Besides, it took me a very long time to model that cockpit...

2. The Manta is an extrememly fast vessel, so I would expect more than a single engine nozzle. Again, I did experiment with a single exhaust tube, and, well... It didn't seem to work quite right. I want realism here.

Skyblade, the main bars on that cockpit look fine, but I think it would look better if those smaller bars were left out

I can live with the engines, but the little bars (only 8 of them) really do need to be removed, I think. They take away a lot...

They aren't horrible.. Well, they just look, like, decorative or something. Not rugged and militaristic at all. A little too intricate. Try it with just the 4 main bars and see what it looks like.

Very nice! Very very nice! So how many people fit in there? It looks like it coud hold like 10, almost like a smallish corvette(maybe more like a gunship ;)), but maybe it's just me. Do you have a link to what it looked like before?

10 People? I doubt it. Remember, the more people they have in the ships the more they have to pay. And you can assume that the Rebels are short in numbers, and don't want to lose 10 people per ship. It makes more sense to have a more autonomous onboard computer and 1 or 2 people onboard.

Is not that the purpose of putting your image up for public display? I post (used to post and will later on post, I guess) there only because people tell you how to make it better. What I get after I go there is usually very very different from what I have before I get comments.
