    • Carn, you are playing this very cheaply. One second you give all this stuff about still attacking massive warfleets that outnumber you, the next you scream about people attacking your ships without making you retreat. Another thing, you were attacked, so Ipscious(sorry for the spelling)can't retreat you, a point you strongly argued for at the previous Alien HC encounter, where Kyle tried to make you and Rak retreat. You have to make your fleet retreat. You got jumped, too bad, cry all you want, but don't be such a poor sport. You're playing like a sore loser, and also showing yourself to be a big hypocrite. Sorry if I misunderstood anything, but this is my impression from your posts.

Yes. I'm sure another webstory based on the original game would drag in many more members...

    • Heh lol, yeah just about everywhere I go people get confused about my name for the past two years. I guess they have good reason... after all it is Ssi Ruuvi(spelling?) Its the name of the commanding officer of the invading Ssi Ruuvi fleet in Truce At Bakura.

    • Heh, I remember reading that book... oh, four years ago, I think I even have a little micromachine of one of those weird Alien invasion ships. And Mac, I am now waiting on Asriel to run KK's fleet for him? I must say I am a little relieved, as KK tends to complain quite a bit more then the good Asriel would.

    • Are you sure you got those stats righ Skyblade because for a guy who just caught my enemy totally by suprise and "annihilates a good deal of his fleet" I think I came up with the decidely short end of the stick. Im not sure if I understand this correctly according to your stats I lost 2 cruisers 2 gunboats 2 heavy fighters and 5 interceptors? and he only lost a handful of fighters? All this to a retreating fleet? I can understand losing the gunboats and some more of the Interceptors in that fighter screen, but Interceptors are way superior to all HC couterparts and I have to believe that they would have inflicted hevier losses on the slower (D Rays) HC fighters. As for the Cruisers and Heavy Fighters they both died when the Freedom cruiser died (and you say the freedom survived) and I dont see how I lost an extra extra Cruiser.

    • Skyblade, I know you're doing your best, but look at the stats

      His stats after taking Selica:

      1 Enterprise-Class Battlecruiser (light damage)
      1 Freedom-Class Cruiser
2 Tigershark Gunships (both light damage)
      85 Stingrays (5 destroyed)
      55 Swordfish (5 destroyed)
      23 Skates (2 destroyed)
      55 Devil Rays (2 destroyed)

Factoring out his reinforcements, these would be his immediate stats after his battle with Ipvicus:

1 Enterprise-Class Battlecruisers (one heavy damage)
      1 Freedom-Class Cruiser (heavy damage)
2 Tigershark Gunships (both light damage)
      83 Stingrays (2 destroyed)
      50 Swordfish (5 destroyed)
      20 Skates (3 destroyed)
      55 Devil Rays

He lost 10 fighters. It was perfectly a valid battle, and he would have lost a great deal more than that. Also, please read the posts starting with my holographic fleet strategy posts and place your judgment on that as well.

Carn, if you didn't retreat from my larger fleet, you wouldn't have here.

    • Kender: I spent twenty minutes sorting out that battle. It'd be a huge favor if you guys could just except things as the way they are. 😉 I still knocked off a good number of Carno's ships, so things look pretty much fair.

    • Factor in my losses and the whole thing becomes even more ridiculous, you cant just increase my losses, and still say that no battle occured(Carn why didn't you just stay and fight like a man? You could have used your fighter superiority for your favorate tactic of shredding everything with one brave D-ray attack, hell you could have even called in Rak to support you with his capitals and reenforcements.). Plus how is a slow outdated batttlecruiser supposed to outrun my assorted fleet? There is no way im accepting the survival of that Enterprise.

Up leaps the race of Earthmen,
Out, far, and onward yet - Robert A. Heinlein, The Green Hills of Earth

    • Vice Admiral's stats before battle:

      2 Carriers
      3 Battlecruisers
      2 Heavy Crusiers
      3 Cruisers
      4 Destroyers
      7 Gunboats
      7 Heavy Fighters
      31 Interceptors

after according to your revised stats

      2 Carriers
      (one Black Dragon Ipvicus' Flagship)
3 Battlecruisers (one lightly damaged, another moderately)
      2 Heavy Cruisers
      1 Cruiser
      4 Destroyers
      5 Gunboats
      5 Heavy Fighters
      26 Interceptors

sorry Skyblade, but there is a very big statistical difference. Carn's human fleet lost 10 measily, cheap human fighters. Vice Admiral lost 2 cruisers, 2 gunboats, 2 heavy fighters, and 5 interceptors. Keep in mind how much more alien fighters cost. 1 gunboat alone would have costed more than the 10 fighters that carnotaur lost. Total, vice admiral lost exactly 75 million in damage.

Carn on the otherhand lost 2 stingrays, 5 swordfish, and 3 skates, which equate to a total of exactly 4.8 million credits.

Vice admiral, who attacked with more ships and surprise against carn's weaker fleet who was going to retreat, lost 75 million credits worth of ships while carn lost 4.8 million worth. I have to tell you Skyblade that this is completely ridiculous. To back up my stats, check the post that Carn made after taking selica that told of his fleet stats, then check admiral ipvicus's numbers before the battle (which was the first time he was engaged) as well.

Slow and outdated? cough The Enterprise is faster than any Alien Capital ship! (Destroyer is technically a Frigate.) How you call that slow I don't know...

    • Kender: I did not add losses to the alien fleet. I cut back losses for both sides, hoping that would clear things up. But unfortunately, no matter what we do, one side or the other isn't going to be happy. 😉

    • I agree with the aliens. Read over what Kyle said carefully. The new alien commander (I forget his name had EVERY advantage over Carn, and he lost almost 20 times as much. How you call that fair I have no idea

I love the arcade. There's this one game near the middle where you put in a dollar and win four quarters, and I win every time! They even have games in the bathrom, look! I won a balloon!

    • Skyblade, please read my post carefully. You definitely added losses because you originally took the stats that vice admiral posted AFTER quite a large battle and worked with that. Other than that you GREATLY reduced human losses.

Main point. Vice admiral lost 75 million in ships
Captain Carnotaur lost 4.8 million in ships

these two points are the result of the battle from your revised edition.

Again, Skyblade, please read what I have said carefully. Thanks Bari.

Nature of War, I'm afraid. spl probably isn't going to be happy with me either, even though everything I posted makes perfect sense. spl, in case you want to nitpick at my saying the Pirates were "amazed" (oh dear!) and didn't react instantly when something rather unexpected and indeed unprecedented happened, here's an analysis for you. According to the Oregon Driver's Manual, human reaction time is approximately 1.5 seconds under normal circumstances. I'll assume that having a pair of goliaths appear right in front of you and annihilate one of your cruisers almost instantly will only adversly affect that by about one second, which I think generous. Snce my ships knew what was happening ahead of time and were prepared (knowing exactly what they'd find thanks to reports from Sentinel ), they could bring the ship to full battle status within 2 seconds, and fire .25 to .5 seconds later (they'd already know where the targets were, roughly, and have fingers all over the triggers). So, they'd open fire perhaps a quarter of a second before your ships do, again being generous to you. Given the close range firepower they have, it's not at all unreasonable that they could rapidly chew up your ships.

As for using the tech I am, I note that I went ahead and researched it first, which I'm not sure if the Aliens did with the holograph thing that everyone's been fussing about. No one objected to the effect, so I see no cause to complain now that I've used it tactically against you.

      Skyblade: Check your e-mail!

    • First off Mac, I did not underestimate the amount of return fire coming from the HC fighters. You need to realize that when you have several missiles coming your way you can't return fire. Evasive manuevers are all that you do. Three dimensional tactical combat isn't chess.
Also, if you can focus the gravity well that well, the prices on the new Interdicters definitely need to be boosted by several times.
Third, since when can you pinpoint your jumps? When you jump into a system in EV you come in more or less randomly, although along the plane that you traveled. That means that 1. You wouldn't be able to jump to my fleet since you would have gone through your own, risking a collision and 2. You would have hit the cones from the Interdicters far earlier. Might I also mention the fact that when you come out of hyperspace there is a period of time where you are slowing down, going in a straight line? You don't just snap at normal speed right there. This isn't Star Wars.
Again, you do not have cloaking abilities. It is impossible for your fighters to be undetectable. This isn't a damn Star Wars RPG so make up your own damn tactics and stop trying to have invisible ships. Research a cloak if you want undetectable ships. My sensors are damn good enough to see incoming ships.

Yeah, all of one post before and basically during the battle for all accounts. And no one could object to the effect for two reasons: I'm the only one who would be affected at the moment and because you didn't specify that the gravprojecter thingie could be that accurate. I assumed that it would make it impossible for any ship to leave the system if they were on because these simulate a planetary mass, not simulate it somewhere else leaving ships inbetween competely unaffected.
