Got the e-mail about Reign of Chaos... But, as you can probably tell by reviewing this topic, I'm rather busy with graphics for the time being (Another reason I stayed away from the computer yesterday was because of the stress from the job. Got to kill my younger brother in "Axis and Allies," played two piano recitals, and saw "Lord of the Rings." Great vacation. :p). If I ever get some extra free time, however, I'll try seeing if a few of my short posts may aid the webstory.

As for fighters having wings, I usually emphasize that point. Since they are usually not only used in space, fighters must have proper shape and lift in a planet atmosphere if they wish to patrol.

That, and they just look better with wings. If you just had a floating square or rectangle, it doesn't look nearly as intimdating (Borg are the exception, of course) as a sleek fighter with missiles under the wings.

Plus, thrusters on the ends of those wings could aid in thrust and turning. Try doing that with a block.

Precisely what I had in mind. I'll simply replace the blue textures with green.

I also finished the Confederation shuttle model, but never got around to uploading the graphics. Since blue and red-only ships began to get boring, I decided to model a Corvette. Once I finish it, I might go for a Rebel escort carrier.

I don't mind at all, as long as it aids you in your projects. Also, the UBB seems to be rather screwed, since your URLs seem to be ok. I was able to view your re-colored version of the Light Freighter by pasting the link in a new window (your webspace doesn't provide external linking), and it looks cool. The green is a tad too bright, but nice work.

Also, I plan on creating an Astex set, and will probably use some of the Confederation tanker graphics with blue textures replaced with green.

It might help if you tool off the top fin(or make it smaller) and made the front windshield thing all one without that seperator

That's one of the things I tried. Still didn't quite get the results I wanted. The "seperator" bar in the front does make it ugly, but realistic (I guess).

Ok, I decided to do something different tonight. I'm slightly tired of Rebel / Confederation graphics at the moment, so I figured I'd go for a modified pirate Lightning (which I'll also put up for download sometime). Here she is:

The original model was completely grey. After I looked it over a bit, however, I decided some red would take away the plain appearance. The red is much darker than that which I use on the Rebel ships, so it shouldn't be any big deal.

I've always pictured pirate vessels as dark, much like they are in "Pale."

Probably so. I'll use the same model (maybe make some slight changes), change the textures around to green, and lighten up the hull colors.

Not sure about your question. I've always thought yellow represented independence, but I guess not...

I see a lot of civilian/independant ships that have green. I think it is on a lot of the stock EV ships (light freighter, bulk freighter, defender, and probably a few others), too.

Oh, btw, the Confed Superfreighter is awesome. I just want to know: How come EV graphics tend to have cargo pods? Couldn't you fit more freight into box-shaped cargo areas, assuming that most cargo is in boxes or on pallettes? The rounded shape would not really maximize the amount of cargo you could squeeze in, right?

Well, quite simple. It's a Super tanker. Those pods carry liquid, not your average cargo boxes. Destroying one of these would make the explosian of a Confederation Cruiser seem quite pathetic...
