    • EV + music

      Hi!

I am wondering if there is a way to enable playing of modules (*.xm, *.it, *.mod, *s3m, mad etc.) or other kinds of sound-formats (.mp3, *.WAV, *.AIF(F), *.QT or MIDI-formats) in EV.

I have been composing music (read: "tracking music") since 1998, and I have during that time I have downloaded about 1000 modules, which is about 5000 minutes of music... And as for now, I cannot play music and play EV at the same time - is there some kind of plug-in that makes this possible?

Wouldn't it be great to play some Power Metal whilst shooting down Pirates and some classical-music whilst achieving payment for missions, you've completed? πŸ˜‰

Maybe it's just me, but I belive that music is the ultimate form of art...

EDIT This does not have all to much to do with Escape Velocity, does it?

    • There's no way Escape Velocity can play music; the only thing you can do is to have another application playing it in the background. Unfortunately, EV doesn't multitask, so that doesn't work very well, but I understand EV Nova fixes this problem.

      Darn!

Well, thank you David Arthur! πŸ™‚

I am using a Power Macintosh 6100/66 to play EV on, and it'd crash if I opened a music-player whilst playing EV. And if I play EV in Basilisk II, it goes very slow... I am using a 233 MHz PC with... ehr... ooops! I just realized that is a Macintosh-webboard and not a PC-webboard!

Well, let's just hope that Santa is nice this year, and gives me Macintosh G3 Quicsilver - or whatever it is called! πŸ™‚

    • You can play music in iTunes while playing EV/O, but then iTunes stops after the first song. Also, the volume is reduced. So unless you turn on Inna Godda Da Vidda full blast and then start playing, you won't be able do enjoy music for any length of time in EV/O. πŸ™‚

But of course, Nova fixes it. Can't wait to play and listen to the (url="http://"http://damnsw.net/~macgp/Pikeman/pikesongs/thefyhsong.mp3")FYH song(/url) at the same time...... πŸ˜„

EV is not slow in Basilisk II with 233 MHz PC
EVO is kinda slow but now when you turn up the game speed to max, which is 225% also press caps lock, which can speed your EV and EVO to 500%
then the game won't be that "slow" on bailisk II.

      You can't. 225 x 2 is 450% of normal game speed.

...lucky me, one can only be baptized once... right?

Well, Pikeman, I have not seen you at the boards. At least not if judging from that which I have read! πŸ™‚

Hehe, that baptize-system you got, came as quite a surprize! πŸ˜„

Seriously; isn't there anyway, I can make EV in Basilisk II go any faster? πŸ˜•

    • At the main menu, click Set Prefs... At the bottom of the window, there should be a button labeled Set Game Speed. Click that, and run it up higher. You can also press Caps Lock during the game to speed it up.

    • Oh, and just for the sake of clarity, here are my rules for fire-baptizms.

      1. You must be a newb with under 150 or so posts.

      2. You must be seen by Pikeman

      3. You must strike Pikeman as someone who has gone above and beyond the qualities that which a normal newb posseses.
        and/or
You must catch Pikeman when he's in the mood to blow the **** out of something.

      I hope that helps.
