Yes, I can relate to most of you, though I despise MacWorld. Evil commies!
I got EV of a MacAddict (Who-hoo!) Disc , and was hooked after I figured out that I could buy new ships. I was 19 at the time... Sniff, sniff. This brings back memories of times long gone by... I WANNA GO BACK TO 7th GRADE! WAAAA! But in all fairness, EV would have had less "initial fans" had MacAddict not put it on the Disc in '96.
BTW- I noticed that last months Disk had EV on it too, thought it was rated a "Possible hit" while Ares was "must have." This is the only time I wanted to do harm to an 'Addict staff member, and this episode made up for the ones I'd missed over the years.
As for those who don't play EV as much anymore- I can definitly relate to you as well. EV has touched, me, in every place, and I love tweaking with her gears.
To me, Escape Velocity is almost immortal- it will be cherished forever within the walls of my 40gig Harddrive, to be eternaly revered with awe. I am unfit to touch its proggaming, I use copies and other such replaceables instead. EV will remain in my heart for all time, it is the measuring stool for all other games: Past, present, or future. Nothing has neared it's sanctity, it's absolute power. It will be played 500 years from now, and I'm proud to own it, $20 shareware nonwithstanding.
