Things like this are why I always go to Akio and land there immediately after finishing the Alien Mission. That way, people can shoot at me all they want on my way back to Palshife, but the game is already saved after I've killed the cruiser.

Okay, can't think of which joke to dis the Confeds with (since there's so many) so I'll just tell about my stupidity in battle.
/me was running the kill alien cruiser mission for the rebels. I finnally found the cruiser and used my particle beam on it to destroy it. Yeah, I know the particle beam uses fuel and I have no ramscoop but I'll be okay. hehe, moron. It finnally dies killing one of the fighters in the explosion. Two more fighters to go. I unleash my wrath of torpedos on them killing the rest. All done. Time to go. Hmmm...no fuel. KLAXXON! Dangit! In comming pirate kestrel. Normally this would not be a problem but when your at armor status 32% then you know you've got a problem. Kaboom! Mike's dead.

using the particle beam on the reble missions? i did that once. you fly for the feds until you get the beam. then get a cargo mission to palshife. they will let you land to finish the mission no matter what your legal status there. once in the bar youll get a mission to defect to the rebellion by killing a frigate that is coming through the system. once you kill it the rebels like you and the feds hate ya.

But, you don't get their missions afterwards. That mission can actually be gotten anywhere in rebel space, not just palshife. The only way to do this is to play the double-agent game.
