...That the Escape Velocity web forum has recently surpassed 20,000 posts. Strangely enough, this same board was at around 16,000 posts a month ago. I'd have to give the sudden traffic credit to all our new EV forum members. I'm very happy to see that as Escape Velocity gains age, it continues to impress its fans and drag more members into the community.

Heh, msot people would attribute the influx of new members to the upcoming release of Nova, but that doesn't explain the sudden growth of the regular EV community.. at least not wholly.

For me, I stumbled upon this community just recently after having re-stumbling upon EV whilst on vacation with a PowerBook. I came to Ambrosias site for plug-ins and discovered one of the more active web boards I've ever been involved in. Very cool.

Interesting... I first visited the web boards because I had a question about the final level of Ares. I was using the username "Ares Sniper" then, and changed to "Captain Skyblade" in February.

Why is Override more popular than EV? Who likes quantity over quality? To me Override is an over-glorified total conversion plug-in that you have to pay for if you don't want Hector stealing your cash...

So, I guess I'm one of the newbies that just came flooding in to push up the posts number =). Although, I'm technically not a newbie. I stumbled upon (url="http://"http://www.escape-velocity.com")www.escape-velocity.com(/url) about 1996-1997, and joined the WWWboard (predated DISCboard) immediatly thereafter. I left a little after we got the DISCboard, don't remember why, though. I think I had an argument with Andrew Welch. Or maybe that was #ev on irc, I can't remember.

But recently I changed my handle and decided to make my return to the boards. I had just re-downloaded EV and needed some people to talk to about it, so...

In my opinion, EV Override is better than many people think it is, but still no match for the original Escape Velocity, which is the best game Ambrosia ever released. Many people were disappointed when Override was finally released.
