As you all probably know, the Corsair Developers and I are working on a total conversion for Escape Velocity Override called "The Dreden War." Now, since many of you EV players like to talk about your favorite ships, (me included :)) I thought I might ask a question. If I were to use one ship design from the Escape Velocity game, what would you want it to be? I'm trying to decide on atleast one design, but can't seem to come to a conclusion. I would like to ask that everyone post which ship design they would like to see in "The Dreden War." Post away!

Personally, I like Rebel Destroyer and Lightning design (The Patrol Ship is cool, too). But your votes will be what counts...Feedback would be greatly appreciated!

A scaled down version of the Rebel Cruiser would make one hell of a gorgeous looking fighter. That's assuming that you're looking for a ship that size. I just think it would be an interesting idea...

Size doesn't matter. I'm just anxious to know what everyone's favorite design is. And yes, I can scale down ships...The Rebel Destroyer design would make one nice looking-fighter...Now as for everyone else, I need some feedback here.

Intresting... I would say the Hawk. I like the design... and it was THE most underused ship in Escape Velocity.

Why not just use ALL the ships, and add more? After all, ships in EV are used like cars, everyone has one to get around and work, and look how many types of cars there are, too many to count. It would be neat to see a realistic plug in liek that. Cause in EV, it says things like "The CR-47 type D Fighter" (u get the idea) but why are there no "The CR-47 type F Fighters" or "The CR-47 type A Fighters"? It would be so cool if there were a bunch of ships like that. And some of then don't even have to be visibly different, maybe one is faster, and less cargo space, maybe one has more jumps. Who knows, millions of ships can be made with this idea in mind. Keep in mind too that the same principle can be applied to outfits, liek say there are two turrets that do the same range, same damage, same accuracy, jut one ways 20 tones, and the other ways 15 because the company who made it recently began to use a lighter alloy for construction. Anyway, that is always something I've looked for in pulg-ins, once i learn to make plug-ins myself, I plan to have over 200 purchasable ships.

p.s. I would also like to say that saking for publics help with your plug in is really great, it makes it easier for those of us who cannot make plug ins to get our viewpoints and ideas out there while at the same time prviding your company with multiple viewpoints... Good idea, and I'd like to keep posted on the plug.

Hmmm.... How about a manta? Add some verticle fins on the back, visable gunports in the front, and make it less of a perfect triangle (it wasn't very aerodynamic).

It would have to be the rebel destroyer. Hell, I love that ship so much that when I was playing EVO and noticed that there were no good ships (no, really, haven't you noticed yet?), I used my underused copy of EV Edit to port the destroyer over (kept the stats and the price the same) and then just used that. Then I felt that I had to port the cruiser as well, so I did that too... but in the end, I just couldn't be bothered with EVO (It really ain't that good...), so I just came back to EV.
So, to recap... the rebel destroyer gets my vote.

Now as for ship designs to use, I'm beginning to think that I'll use the Lightning and the Hawk, and possibily the Rapier. Sound alright? I have plenty of ideas for larger ships, so that's taken care of.

Hey, it looks like you based that Swift Fighter on the Hawks. You just brought the wings up at an angle, added another lower set of wings with launchers of some sort, changed the color, and added a verticle fin on the bottom. Pretty cool!

Like the Swift? I had fun designing that one. I actually had no Escape Velocity or Override ship designs in mind when I created the Swift...I thought it was my own, original design. The Swift carries three laser cannons and twin gun pods, which gives it about the firepower of the Hawk light fighter.

I hate the UE Destroyer--It needs to be replaced with some confed ship with modified colors. Just change the blue stripes of the frigate to red (if you have a 3d editor) and you'd have a nicer looking ship.

The confed ships look typically less complicated than the rebel's. Doesn't make much sense since the rebs modeled theirs off of cargo and luxury transport. Hmmmmmm.......

Very much resembles a B-wing. Not a bad thing, though.

Looks like the plug will be pretty nice. Just make sure it has lots of good missions and a few plot twists.

Oh, believe me. The missions are going to be a blast. We plan on writting about 150 for the Dreden alone, about 200 for the Empire, and smaller amounts for the other governments.
