My pirate pilot got curious -- or was it greedy? -- and began opening fire on any pers encountered in EV. I even disabled and plundered Andrew's super-fortified Luxury Liner ... which made his pers MAD. Now Andrew opens fire as soon as he sees me.

Then I took a shot at Matt's Kestrel. Wow! That was a mistake.

First of all his shielding is from some other universe. I never got him below 98% -- even
with the Fork. Second, his Lightning fighters are tougher than most. Third, Matt's attitude makes Hector seem sweet.

Yikes!!!

Nobody is invincible, some are just alot harder then others. Do you have any idea how much money MB has on his? His shields are only about two thousand times stronger then the ordinary kestral.

Whoa! Thats a lot of cash. (GWG licks his lips and goes to dust off his EV pilot). Anyone know where to find him on a regular basis or is it just a case of wait and see?

Heh. I remember when I decided to take on Matt Burch just to do something new. I was in my heavily outfitted Rebel Cruiser at the time. I figured with 560 shields (I used a plug that made the shield generators and regenerator actually work), a few armor upgrades, 5 proton cannons, 2 laser cannons and four proton turrets, I could just sit on top of Matt while pounding away (after taking out the fighters of course). I was blasting away only for a while and didn't notice that my shields and armor had quickly been depleted while Matt had lost but a few shield units. There went my ship - guess I won't do that again.

Later in the game, out of curiosity, I'd anger Matt's ship to see what it would do. 8 rocket launchers, huh? I thought he was firing insanely fast.

Nice ship Matt.

I wanted to fight Matt once upon a time, when I had my captured and upgraded Rebel Crusier and nothing to do. He kicked my ass of course, so I went Mad and used ResEdit to create a very cheaty ship with Insane shields, armor, weaponry e.t.c.
With that ship, I hunted Matt's Kestrel all over the galaxy, and when I finally found it, he put up a hard fight, almost to hard for the cheat-ship, but as I didn't think of all the money he was carrying, just revenge, I blew the Kestrel up without boarding and laughed at him. (No offence Matt, but your Kestrel where almost as annoying as Hector's Rapier.)

An easier way, but very dishonorable, is to use ResEdit and reduce Matt's shields to almost nothing. This metod isn't as fun though, and I have never used it.

the problem with killing matts kestral is not the shield itself but the shield regen rate. shields regen based on a percentage, not a flat value. net effect is that his shields regen 10,000% as much damage absorbing capacity as a normal kestral in the same time

i doubt you would be able to kill him with any of EVs normal weaponry. you would need a high-damage beam weapon or something similar -- basicaly youd have to cheat

I blew him up once in my Confed Cruiser. It took a long time, though. I had my Cruiser totally outfitted with hundreds upon hundreds of torpedoes fired from lots of launchers. If you can fire torpedoes fast enough, they break down Matt's shields faster then most other weapons. (about one percent every hit) If you can only get hits fast enough, while not allowing time for his shields to recharge, he can be detroyed. Just make sure you get rid of the lightings before you take on Matt...They will come back to haunt you. I can't remember if I was able to destroy him with just torpedoes...I might have had to finish him off with turret fire, my patrol ships, and neutron fire, and heavy rockets. It can be done!

P.S. Please note I had lots of upgrades for my cruiser, which is probably what saved me (I also had Tritanium and shield enhancers...All that fancy stuff). I was on my armor by the time I finished him...All the heavy rockets from Matt's Kestral ate me alive.

Aarrrrrrrrrrg! Can't find him! Which are the values you need to modify with ResEdit to make him show up regularly. Currently everything has been suspended in my quest for this elusive Kestrel.

I know. You can never seem to find the menace when you're mad! When I was hunting him down, I couldn't find him, so I stuck to do missions for the Confeds and other people. Eventually, while making a cargo delievery, (yeah, in my confed cruiser. ) I stumbled upon him, and gave him some wrath. Fortunately, is paid off...

If all you wanna do is find him, not cheat to make him weaker or anything like that, just use ResEdit to change his system and how often he appears there. Then you should have no trouble finding him. Good luck, GWG, we're all rootin' for ya.

i kicked his ass with my ship it took me like 1 min to kill him. His ship is not god its just a pice of **** with fast recharging sheilds.
