It was suggested (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum69/HTML/000062-4.html#suydam06-03-200309:04AM")in the bug thread(/url) that a wishlist thread might be a good idea. So here it is. I'll start off with ideas that I think might be nice/cool to add, feel free to post things you feel should be in the game.

I don't take full credit for the following list, I have been inspired by other people on this board:

A file deleter v2 that would be reusable.
Someone else mentioned this, good idea: A favourites tab for the main link list that you could add/remove links from.
Multiple save slots for the world map, which stay in memory even if you exit the game and come back.*
A search feature for the world map.*
Alternative to the previous: a map highlighting scheme, so that normal servers have one color, and target servers have another.*
A possibility to close bank accounts. Perhaps, even, on other people... Would they be angry...
An addition to the GCD: the ability to get people out of jail.
An additional, secret and very well-protected, government server: Witness Protection Database. (Work for or against the mob...)
= as a HUD upgrade, maybe?

Well, that's my list. What do you think?

I've got some...

On the financial screen, a listing of which bank each account goes to, and possibly the IP of the bank.

Read this in other threads, and I agree: Being able to turn the music and sound off separately.

When you use the Connection Analyser and the bypassers, the bypassers stay on the screen even after you close the Connection Analyser. It would be nice if they only appeared when the Analyser screen was open.

None of those things are very likely to be changed or added. This is a port everyone, it's supposed to behave exactly like the PC and Linux versions.

Yeah, those are the people to talk to, as they made the original game.

But then, you need to realize how long we had to wait for a patch to fix the obvious, common, user-corrupting bugs, let alone the first feature patch.

Admittedly, Chris was pretty prompt to patch the bugs introduced in v1.2

You've stated that repeatedly, and I read you the first time. This thread is here to relieve the bug fixing thread from feature suggestions and serve as a general what-do-we-all-think-could-be-done-better thread, not a IV/ASW/Contraband-should-add-this-or-else thread. See it as suggestions for a sequel or something.

Thanks for posting this topic Kidglove. I suggested it as a means to be able to talk about what we wish were different, so as not to complain. ie. the "poorest ambrosia game" topic. Also, so that the bug fixers wouldn't go insane with our comments that have nothing really to with them. So... give us a break Adriac etc. and let us talk about what we'd like to see.

All this non-patch crapola reminds me of a book I read, called "The Death of Common Sense." Grrrrrrggggh
The only real problem I have is it get's really jerky and junk, even though I have 6 megs more memory allocated to it.

I like this topic, I was feeling the need for one myself. (And I found this one using the =search= function!)

And yes, of course, it is way way way too early to expect any of this to be incorporated, but I figure, how are they going to know what users want if users don't ever tell 'em? And polite requests are less irritating than requests.

And of course, while I am speaking specifically of the Mac port, what I really have in mind is the master version of the game, from which all ports are made.

So anyway, enough with the caveats.

I am totally with kidglove and shenlon on many of the ideas already posted. I =totally= love the idea of getting people out of jail and the witness protection scheme.

As long as we're talking about modifying the map, perhaps there could be some way of distinguishing banks, internal servers, personal computers, phones etc. My map gets =way= too crowded and it's very hard to spot any given thing. (And sometimes I select the wrong one).

I would really like to get women's names included. It is just too weird not having them. My only consolation is that my Internic computer happens to have the password "penelope" so she and I are the only women in the game <g>.

It's been said, but I'd like to add my voice to the desire to separate the music volume control from the sound effects. I love the music, but only for so long, and I find that the default setting is a bit too loud (in comparison to the sound effects) for me. I've tried playing without the sound (and playing itunes in the background) but I find I like having the sound effects (especially the tracer).

And oh! for the ability to copy and paste!! (Though I try to look at it as part of the challenge).

I would love to be able to sort my ip addresses. Yes, the filter option is a big help, but I am a perennial sorter, and it irks me not to be able to rearrange the list. Even a mild version, like the ability to alphabetize, or sort by ip number, would help.

On the whole, though, I am finding this to be a fascinating game, well worth the money. I am having lots of fun with it and will gladly recommend it to my friends. The fact that I've thought about a wish-list just shows how taken I am with the game.

Ok, I bit. I looked up "internarc" on google and got all of three hits (though it kindly suggested that perhaps I meant "interarc"). One of the hits was in Hungarian.

I'm gessing there ain't no wimmin there, whereever/whatever it is?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Duh! No, I have no need of that particular addon. Using the demo I had a couple of really awkward passwords for internic that I tended to mispell, and it was a pain in the neck, but I'm very fond of Penelope.

But thank you for the link. It's a good reminder to check the addons page every so often to see if there are new goodies.

Modlink has good stuff, and most of it is usable on the mac, as far as I can tell.

I though of another wishlist item, though:

There are about half a dozen gateway sites at the beginning of the game that you can choose from. I nearly always pick Australia, because it's off in a corner and I have a terrible time with map clutter. I would love to have a few more possibilities in parts of the map that get fewer computers: southern South America, Madagascar, Finland.

How about there being a "Process manager upgrade" in the software section so that programs that aren't actually working (like the log deleter when it's just floating around) don't chew CPU? A bit too realistic, maybe?

So are you suggesting that all the programs, when they have finished working, just go away? i wouldnt recommend that...many people re-use log deleter...like when you have a bunch to delete, when oen is finished you just move it to another...unless you are suggesting that it just takes away thier power, then gives it back when you ARE using it? i would go for that...
