Also, if you have PS 7 and export it from there as a PNG it will work fine without cutting off the edges. (Apparently PS 7 PNG format allows semi-transparency... : ).

blender can build games from within it, all art built in the one environment (url="http://"http://www.elysiun.com")http://www.elysiun.com(/url) they have all the tutorials there...if youre serious, consider it
blender's not that bad its like any other hi grade modeller, but they have veery good beginner tutorials and ahuger community
wings is not for animation, only modelling, the models don't export well and i found my self having to go inside the models and clean them up often along with locate orphanned vertices...its great for what it is but if you neeed animation, don't waste your time getting cozy with it when you could learn something with animation..
also if you're interested in cheap vector animation with particles and movie capability...look into moho, cheaper than flash and with bone animation and restraints (url="http://"http://www.lostmarble.com/moho")http://www.lostmarble.com/moho(/url)

I use the demo of poser for animation (is bryce free, havn't checked up on it), so all i need is a program to make, in short, anything thats not a person. Will blender cover that? And i don't need a graphics converter cause i got PS 7, and ill test if the PNG format works, if it doesn't...sighs don't know what ill do, but i think we might be getting $900 or less over this year, so well get all our software then. Any suggestions on what i should spend the money on, as in which programs, which hosting sites for our website (fuitadnet.com is my first choice, i think i might use the silver package with that). Open for suggestions, thanks.

sorry, i might be acting like a newb....but how do you make cutscenes....imovie absoutly STINKS for cutscenes...do you have a special program? if so what? (read the post above and answer it to)

Well, for my game I've sort of teamed up with a friend of mine and we use Animation Master for cutscenes. I don't know how much it is, though, as as we are doing this as a "school club" and the school payed for it.
As for Wings, it's good for modelling low-poly count objects, such as 3D chairs, tables, rocks, and whatnot. I tried Blender... but it was confusing. Wings is MUCH simpler. Luckily for me, I don't have to do that much modelling.

What version of iMovie are you using? Because for making cut-scenes iMovie 3 is just fine. And also, what version of OSX do you have. I just find your statement saying that OS9 is more stable a bit odd, unless you have an early version of OSX. I have had OSX up for 9 and a half days without a restart though I could hardly get through a day without a crash on OS9
And as for a modeller then I suggest Wings 3D. I could never understand it but I never really gave it enough time. Then maybe you could "upgrade" to Strata 3D CX (www.strata.com) which is meant to use a similar modelling system to Wings 3D (SDS modelling) but also includes a BRILLIANT rendering engine, several effects, great texturing and lighting tools and animation tools. It is a bit like Wings 3D if it was a full package. The major problem with Wings is that I don't think it has a rendering engine built in, so you will have to find one.

well strata might be best if it already has a rendering engine, if there isn't one built into wings3d, if i did find one, how would i install it?!?

Wings does have a built-in Rendering Engine, OpenGL, it just sucks. :frown: I'd suggest exporting to POV-Ray and using it to render things.

is there a place where i could get a CHEAP version of poser?

You might be able to find some on eBay but I doubt it. You could try and get older versions but any version below Poser 5 sucked IMO.
Strata 3D CX can render using OpenGL (Point Cloud, Wireframe, Flat, Shaded, Hidden line, Outline), Toon rendering, Raytracing, Raydiosity and Scanline. Raytracing and Raydiosity are the ones that get the best images

I use Poser 4 all the time and I think it's a terrific application program.

AURRRGGGHHH, first of all, you said maybe converting it to PNG format would help make the whiteness go away, and i did, and coldstone didn't recognize PNG format, so i had to change EVERY SINGLE FILE back.....sigh maybe i misunderstood you...

In its current form, Coldstone has very buggy PNG support. Hopefully this should be fixed with the update.
Debra: I didn't like the amount of work you had to to get the models to look different. Power 5, with the face and hair sections make that job much easier, and the rendering is much better.

No, PNG from PS 7 works. Make sure you have 32 bit pictures and 72 dpi. Then just do a basic save (not "to web" or anything) and you should be fine.
You can find the dpi in Image->Image Size. Resolution needs to be 72 pixels/inch.
When you save you should be able to select a 32 bit PNG.
Also, do not save "As a copy."

yeah i got PNG format to work...but it didn't make the whiteness go away, sry for being a newb, but could you like tell me what to do step by step cause im really confused... lol.

Hrmmm... Make sure that it's 32 bits when you save it (I have PS 6 on this comp, so I'm not sure of the exact method of doing this). Also note that it won't be able to eliminate all the whiteness and a few spots may be left. You should touch those up with an eraser...

I have a sure-fire way of eliminating all the white outlines with Graphic Converter which may also work with any other program which lets you alter the individual pixels. The process is a bit time-consuming but the results are excellent. I open the graphic with GC and magnify it to the point where each pixel is visible on the screen. Since you cannot easily see which pixels are not pure white, I outline my graphic in a contrasting color (pink, for example) about four pixels wide. I then systematically change all the pink pixels to pure white by using the eraser. I like all my images in PICT format and don't use PNG.

However, PS 7 PNGs allow partial transparency, and therein lies the advantage. You can actually have opaque images with partially transparent parts (like you're supposed to be able to!!!). It's not perfect and does leave some very little amount of white, though. When that happens I do what RD does and just erase the offending patches of white.
