    • Good news, bad news, and something in between...

I'll start off with the bad news. Most of you have heard of (url="http://"http://members.home.net/genea16/Unreal.html")The Unreal Time(/url). the game that I previously planned to make with Coldstone. However, due to many reasons, one of them being I suck at medievel graphics, another being that I would really like this game to have a 3-D engine, I am not going to make this game with Coldstone. Maybe someday when I can program a 3-D engine I will. Anyways, I'll leave the website up for now.

      Good News:
I'm doing something entirely different with Coldstone.
I realized that not many people are doing sci-fi games, and since I am great at sci-fi graphics(see old EV image gallery posts for some examples), I am making a sci-fi game.

      STRANDED
Just when you thought the mission was accomplished...

As an agent for the Galaxy West Federation, you were sent on an undercover mission to the enemies lair, the planet of Shawna. After the mission was accomplished, you stole a ship and flew away, but was shot down. You regain conciousness on an island off the mainland of Shawna. You see the Ceranea Shores and Sage's Desolation in the distance. Boats are speeding towards you. As you're there, you see a chance not only to escape, but to destroy the enemies lair, Carathi. You take one more look at Sage's Desolation, and quicky go to find the ship's emergency raft...

Ok, so that was kind of short, but when I have a more detailed main story done, I'll post it. Anyways, it will kind of be like Perfect Dark for Game Boy, Jet Force Gemini, and Zelda all rolled into one.

    • Hey, that sounds really cool! (Geez, i wish i could stick to one plot and develop it.) My problem? I have about five really cool ideas to make with Coldstone, but with so many circling my brain, i can't further develop one. So i wanted to take a random poll:

      Which do you like better?

1 Futuristic Games (Like space ships and laser guns)
2 Old time Games (King Arthur and Knights and Zelda era)

      Which do you prefer?

1 Zelda kind of sole hero, no parties
2 Teams, like in FF games

      Which do you prefer (again)?

1 Games that put you in the middle of fighting a war (So you could just jump in the
middle of a battle and start hacking apart 30+ onscreen baddies)
2 Games like Zelda where you're more targeting one main enemy (But there could be sub-
      bosses and things like that

      thanx for your help!
And PS- if anyone would like to help me design characters for this game.... I want to do the Coldstone programming, but for those animated cutscenes, i wanted to use Animation:Master. However, I'm having a little bit of difficulty perfecting my characters on it, and i wondered if anyone would like to help me make the cutscenes, (if i ever get a plot done.)
      Thanx!

    • Although there are no guarantees that it will sell (in the rhetorical sense), it's best to follow your own heart and make the kind of games that you like. Stick with what you know, and you'll produce quite a few gems.

    • Oh come on! Please! I'm dying here! I really can't decide which one i want to continue on! It would really help if some people would just give me their opinions! I have a total of 7 ideas right now.... And i don't know which one to do!
Please, just humor me, whoever the next person on this page is.
Just say whatever, yes, no, 1, 2, A, B, you know.
I'm really interested in what people would rather play!
      Thanks!

    • Make a medieval game that focuses on one character like Zelda. I love Zelda.

    • Hold up. Dosn't Coldstone come with a vast library of usable graphics?

If so, it dosn't seem like suckiness at graphics should be a problem...

    • You are correct, the full version of Coldstone comes with a media library.

Quit complaining; it'll be done when it's done, and you know that. You might also want to read the topic immediately below this one ("Translucency/alpha channel"), and check the Coldstone progress log, which, as you might notice, was updated this very day.

It does, but its not like I'm not gonna make a sword, bow, enemy ect. thats not in the library. With a sci-fi game you'd need stuff like lasers instead. Stuff I can do well. My only problem is getting A:M, which means getting $300.

Judging from the images that flash by in the Coldstone ad banner that shows up every so often, Coldstone includes quite a few graphics that don't appear at all in PoG. Some of them look definitely sci-fi to me...

Chill - what are you trying to accomplish? Hmm? Do you think you can actually goad me? You're nothing Chill -- learn to act like a mature adult on this webboard, and I have no problems with you. Instead, you insist on acting like a six year old kid. Just how old are you? Pathetic.

I'd like to see a futuristic party-style game, though the 64 dollar question about CS is whether or not parties will be allowed. The developers flatly refuse to tell us whether or not parties are to be included (which really hampers the progress of game development). It has alos been suggested that clever use of NPC's could simulate parties if they aren't supported. Anyhow, I've yet to see a really good futuristic RPG. Go for that.

shhh! watch out man! they lynched the last guy that revived this topic! now then: we gotta get you outta here while this blows over. I've got a cousin in Boston that can hide you for a week or two. let the mobs cool down a little, and maybe they won't notice if you slip back into town under cover of darkness. I can get you a new ID, and I don't think a wig would be a bad idea either... just stick to the back roads and alleys, and you might make it out of this one.

you're new here -- this topic has been tossed around for 6 months, and nobody has gotten much of anywhere with it (you obviously knew most of that from your post). So, I wouldn't give it to much thought for now. ASW has policies concerning software dev, and one of their more promonent ones is: don't tell if we don't know. and they don't know for sure yet -- besides, we've seen our fair share of fist fights on this subject already, and we don't want no more trouble round these parts.

Too late. My snitch informs me the KGB already have musicman under surveillance. His phones are tapped, his movements are tracked, his dog has been bribed. We hardly knew ye, musicman. Better to crunch that suicide capsule now than be dragged off to the gulag. It'll be easier that way. Via Condios, my friend.
