I got into playing Acheron some more, and as Dr. Trowel said, the graphics are drop dead gorgeous. Past Nova quality and into a category of its own. Good work! 🙂

 These compliments for acheron are driving me nuts!!!!!!! I cant wait for the next release!

Thank you 🙂 . Many of the planet and planet landing graphics are by Nick Anderson and Ragashingo, respectively, so they get the credit for those. I did a few planets, the stations, weapons, interfaces, loading and title screens, and ships, among a few other misc. things.

oryhara: If I'm not mistaken, the windows version of EVN comes with a converter that converts the .bin file into a .rez plugin file. It shouldn't need to be expanded any more than from the .zip format.

No. My wine will not take stuffit, therefore I can not download the much-loved acheron.

    • Wait, you can't download it? I'm sure that it should be able to download...

I really don't think that stuffit is necessary to get it to work. Just convert the .bin (mac binary) files with the .bin->.rez converter that comes standard with the windows version of EVN. If you're running windows EVN on wine it should have come with the converter.

1006th post! Since apparently I missed my 1000th...

    • Is there anywhere i can sell these renegade skyskarrers? I captured and took as my own a renegade seabrewer, and now I have issues with replacing the skyskarrers with that bounty-hunter gun.

    • It's not "Seabrewer", it's "Sabrewing", oryhara. 😉

In a later release, Crusader Alpha, you might want to increase the FramesPer to either 64 frames, or to 72, for the larger ships like the V-4 Sabre and the Silverscrall. The turning animation for the V-4 doesn't look too smooth.

Crusader, how do you make enough money th buy a silverscrall? I'm stumped.

What runs? I lost loads of money when my escort leviathan things deserted with my cargo.

    • Leviathans are almost too expensive to be worth it. On even the most efficient runs you might only see a 50% or so profit increase vs. a pegasus. I think that actually makes sense, though, given the game universe. The only ones who have leviathans are rich snobs anyway, so they can corner the market, and as long as you make slightly more profit employing them than anyone else, you're still gonna do it.

    • Make a note of where things are sold high, where they're sold low, what their respective values are, use your head, do some calculations, and find a route that works enough profit to sustain a few escorts. It may be across a Skybridge, but if you're patient you can rack up enough money to begin a career as a bounty hunter.

@Kaldor: This is the Acheron universe we're talking about. Here the Leviathan equivalent can produce a reasonable turn-out if you do your math right.

I found one; in vantock sector 1, the two planet ports have luxury goods-port one has them at 1200, port 2 has them at 1500. I'm in a Silverscrall!

D'oh right, got confused 'bout which thread I was reading. I managed to make quite a bit of money in Acheron with one trade route I found. I think it involved going to the trade port in the skybridge system of the southern peoples, buying something low, gating to the eastern skybridge, and then jumping into one of the big systems there. There was a port on the SE side of the planet that bought stuff high, then you could buy low on the station in orbit and go back. There may even have been a med->high trade between the planet and station.

If my explanation is totally useless, I apologize, I'm rather bad with names, I'm afraid.

    • Crusader; I would love to write a or 3 🙂 story lines for you, as I have much time to do so.

    • I have a question, are planning to add in sounds effects in place of Nova placeholders in the future?

    • Will download and play as quick as I can. 🙂 Dying of curiosity. 🙂
