    • Help with a name?

      For a new rebel ship.

Hi, I have some questions to ask if you would be kind enough to answer them:

      1. I'm making a plug in that adds a few ships for the rebels (I might do some for others) and one of my ideas was a spy ship with a cloak (like the zephyr) but I can't think of a very good name (rebel spy ship sounds a bit lame) so any ideas?

      2. How do I link my ships to a desc resource?

      3. How do you link ships to a shan resource?

Sorry for the noobish questions I'm new to plugs.

    • Names... hmmm...

      • Observer

      • Witness

      • Monitor

      • Recorder

Stuff based on observing and monitoring fleet movements would be good names.

    • My ideas:

      • Sentinel

      • Watchman

      • Seer

      • Guardian

      • Arbiter

That's all I can come up with. The first and last ones I like the most, actually.

Sentinel and Guardian imply that it is a defense ship. For a long range spy Seer and Watchman are much better.

    • So far watchman is my fave.

    • Random ones that pop to mind...

      • Sentry

      • Foresight

      • Spy

      • Vigiliant (or Vigiliance) (sp?)

      • Watcher

      • Something to do with Eye (Watchful Eye?)

      • Silent Witness

      • Wraith

      • Ghost

      • Spectre

      • Ethereal

      Spectre

      The rebel Spectre sounds good.:)
Also any answers for 2 and 3?

      2. How do I link my ships to a desc resource?

The desc resource needs to be the ship's ID minus 128 plus (some other number). The escort description (you see it when hiring the ship, e.g. "The captain of this ship says he can protect you and do light cargo trading, but his ship looks a little beat up") works the same way, but the (some other number) is different. I can't remember the numbers right now, but I think Guy's sig link has a guide to that kind of stuff. You could also just look at the nova files and figure it out.

      3. How do you link ships to a shan resource?

Give the ship and shan the same resource ID.

      Stuff he wrote.

      Thank you very muchly. 🙂

    • Just came up with one last name: the Phantasm.

@ Josh: The Wraith is already in game... 😉 However, a couple of those would make for good names as well. Spectre (also written as "Specter") would sound good.

    • I vote for Spectre/Specter

    • It's 13000 for shipyard and 14000 for escorts. So ship 128 should use 13000/14000, ship 129 13001/14001, and so on. Also note to get shipyard info pictures to show, you'll need the shipyard descriptions (and maybe escort, not so sure) to point to the graphic in question. There doesn't have to be a specific PICT I.D. for those pictures, just make sure they don't conflict.

    • Lets see:

      -Seeker
      -Espionage Craft
      -Shadow
      -Poltergeist

    • Right I think I'm going to go with spectre (thanks Josh) but I've got 2 more questions:

1.Do you think it's worth adding new weapons? (I was thinking along the lines of FWC wraithli and turreted 200mm railguns)
      2. An if so should I make a side string to unlock them or just have them there from the start?

Weapons. Sidestring. Also, you might even want a sidestring to unlock the ship as well.

    • You should start out simple. First, make sure the ship is in the game and that it works, and is semi-balanced.

Now, if you want to add a string, this is what I suggest. Make it available from the Rebel II outfitters. Make it to get the turreted 200 railgun. First mission: go down to Aurora and ask if you can have the schematics of the design to work on. Results: they say yes, in which case the mission is pie, or they say no, in which case it gets ugly. If they say yes, you get to go back to Rebel II with it. But if they say no, now you have to steal it (preferably off an Auroran cruiser or carrier).

What's a FWC Whraithli? Well, whatever it is, make it kind of like the other one, gotten in the outfitters, only maybe this one has to be stolen, maybe from Lesten if it's Fed tech.

Then, for the ship, you go to the shipyard and there it is! The Rebels want you to be the test pilot, and you go on some mission with it (maybe recon, or taking down a Fed task force, or something).

Oh, and I like the name "The Sleight of Hand".

FWC=Fire while cloaked and wraithii are a weapon used by the rebels and polaris.

    • Ahhhh... the perhaps the mission is to ask the Polaris to divulge info on how to make a Wraithii FWC? I just didn't remember what FWC was.

In my opinion, yes and unlock via string.
