      Requirements
      Escape Velocity Nova v. 1.0.7
      Minimum monitor resolution of 1024x768 recommended.

      Installation
      Create a folder to place your original Nova Files and Pilots folders and move those folders into that folder (I recommend naming the folder Original Files ). Then move the Nova Files and Pilots folders from the SFA v0.1a2.5 folder, as well as the new blank pilotlog.txt and debuglog.txt files to the EV Nova folder. Run EV Nova.

      It is recommended that your resolution be set to a minimum of 1024 x 768 -- otherwise, the Cargo section of the interface bar will be obscured. While it is not necessary -- very rarely does transporting cargo ever enter into the scenario -- it will give you the full interface bar.

      What It Does
      This is a conversion of Escape Velocity Nova to the Star Trek universe -- specifically, to the Star Trek universe during the 30-year career of James T. Kirk as commanding officer aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise. This incomplete version does not yet contain storyline missions, though some resources related to those missions do exist.

      Changes From Alpha Build 2

      • Began implementation of Warp Conduit Network
      • Restored the missing Tellarite Freighter shän
      • Finished the TOS era communicator descriptions and all but three engineers.
      • Cardassian freighter convoys should no longer appear outside of Cardassian space
      • Ptolemy class and Cardassian ships should have proper targeting graphics (though this may not be the case -- please report where it is not).
      • Finished shipyard text for all the TOS-era ships
      • Changed the Ensign rank to Lt. Junior Grade (Not sure if mission text in Kobayashi Maru flavor text needs to be altered to say this)
      • Seldonis system near Cardassian space no longer references Romulan düdes
      • Mobeh Station in Klingon space now references Klingon station graphic
      • Added some more shipyard pictures
      • Limited shuttlecraft to only 1 bay and 1 shuttle per ship.
      • Addressed some additional minor problems mentioned since Alpha Build 2 release
      • Reworked shďp appearance in shipyards to make sure Federation ships only appear at Federation bases, Klingon ships appear in Klingon bases, etc.
      • Fixed alien outfits so Federation ships cannot "purchase" them.
      • Made AI ships un-capturable
      • Set up escort ships for Commodore+ ranks
      • Finally rendered Epsilon IX and Argus Array spöbs
      • Fixed "Intercept Scout" missions so only ships that are available show up
      • Non-freighter AI ships have correct cargo hold space and no free weapon space
      • New shäns for the Tarellian freighter, the Talarian battleship and scout, and the Sheliak ship
      • First Federation flagship shän fixed
      • Ranger class should now deactivate when it's supposed to
      • Fixed the Alture hyperlinks to Vlugta, Theta Pegasi and Epsilon Cygni
      • Telfas Prime is completely uninhabited -- no trading post
      • The Dyson Sphere, Stars, and Black Holes are no longer destroyable
      • Ferengi ships no longer appear in non-Ferengi düdes
      • Shortened names of Federation Science Station and Penal Colony
      • Worked on 2273 and 2283 Cadets -- you no longer do the Kobayashi Maru in a Daedalus class.
      • The "recurring" Defend Planet Against Raider missions should no longer stack one after the other.
      • Rank increase requirements past Lieutenant have been relaxed.
      • Fixed Starfleet përs Hail quotes and named all Starfleet captains.
      • Excelsior variant stats now as intended.
      • The only ships which can legally have escorts are freighters and ships commanded by Commodores and Admirals.
      • Fixed some but not all of the mass discrepencies
      • Fixed the Cardassian battleship/Freighter image problem
      • Several typographical errors in dëscs have been rooted out and destroyed.

    • Very nice. Unfortunately I'm not on my LAN connection at university at the moment like I was at Thanksgiving, so whether or not I'll manage to download this version over my 56k remains to be seen. 🙂

      The only thing 1.0.7 does is fix the bug in the opening mission that relies on the Mxxx fix. Otherwise, if you play it, you'll pop into the Sol system and you won't see any of the planets even though they're there and they're on your radar. Just ask to land on Earth and land normally and you'll be fine.

    • I seem to have run into two problems already:
      1. I can't seem to locate the new pilot button (although pressing the 'n' key still works).
      2. On the first mission you get after landing at Earth (Kobeyoshi Maru?) I get transported to a system with one jump link, and that system only links to the first system. The occasional ship warps in and warps out again, but what am I supposed to do? There are no disabled ships in either system, no apparent wormholes, and no hyperlinks out of the systems. Hailing the passing ships does nothing. What am I supposed to do?

      Did you run the cursor over the panels of the helm/nav console?

      (I haven't done it yet, but on my list of things to do is to label the buttons. Meanwhile, the panels of buttons on the console serve as the various buttons, from left to right).

    • Is the Kobyashi Maru scenario supposed to be humanly possible? The inertia in the ships makes it exceedingly difficult, and the slow reload of the Torpedo only makes it harder...any tips?

      Also, why did you double the number of Klingon Cruisers?

      Kirk cheated? Anyway...it would be practically easy if the ship were inertialess. Spin around and fire back in the opposite direction. A tactic I've used many times.

    • UT: I have since overwritten the pilot that got stuck on that mission, but what happened was that the disabled ship JUST WASN'T THERE. The mission seemed to have aborted itself, and I was left stranded in the middle of nowhere. On the new pilot button thing, yes, I did a mouseover on every part of the panel, and there is no new pilot button. At all.

      It's basically two blank metal panels on the far left of the screen. If you still can't find it, it's probably been minorly damagesd during the downloading and/or decompressing process.

      On the KM, try it with a 2263 pilot. It worked for me there. With a 2290 pilot, while the standard Excelsior kicks ass, the KM isn't available. But it's enough fun for me to blow up all the spobs in Sol. Posted Image

      By the way, UT, the Station Phasers only fire if I have a ship targeted. Is this intentional?
