Well, in the spirit of community:
I'm John Mietus, a graphic designer in west central Illinois (about 5 hours away from Chicago, 3.5 hours away from St. Louis, and 2 hours away from the Quad Cities). I've been playing the EV games since I got the original off a Mac Addict CD back in '96 or '97, and have lurked in the EV community, working on my own unreleased projects, until Nova was nearly released. While I loved EV, I never really got into EVO; Nova, on the other hand, captured me immediately and hasn't let go. I'm turning 40 this November, making me, I believe, one of the oldest people in the EV/O/N community. My other hobbies include writing swashbuckling fantasy novels (unpublished to date) and comedy, community theatre, vampire LARP, RPGs, and avoiding my wife's wrath.
At the moment, I'm trying to finish up Starfleet Adventures, a classic-to-movie-era Star Trek TC for Nova (the first alpha build has been in testers' hands for about two weeks now, and progress on the next alpha build is progressing smoothly if slowly -- I hope to have a public beta available by the Fall). I've also agreed to develop the map and create spöb graphics for the Pundit/Denb/Admiral Benden's Star Wars TC -- mostly because I have a thing about keeping everything as canon as possible, and I really want that plug released.
Starfleet Adventures came from (originally) a desire to create a more canon map for the Star Trek EVO plug, the desire to see a decent Star Trek plug actually get finished for any of the EV/O/N incarnations (it was clear to me early on that the Star Trek Escape Velocity Project was doomed to vaporware), and to (initially) teach myself how to make plugs for Nova (as I said, I'd messed around with some unreleased stuff for EV and EVO -- nothing serious, nothing worth releasing). It's grown beyond the scope of my original idea, is extremely and overly ambitious, and, I'm happy to say, nearing releasability.
After that, I have an idea for an original TC project that will be much less grand in scope and much more tightly plotted and designed that I've been mulling in my head since the early days of EV (Nova made it feasible), as well as a few other smaller projects that I may do just to excise them from my head. It's my hope, once SFA is finished, to focus some major attention on developing my 3D modeling skills.
