Here is everything that I did, just so you won't have any further questions.
I took the Pirate Starbridge from the data, turned it into pict-based sprites, copied and pasted into a really old version of ClarisWorks, then did the same for the Rebel mod starbridge, put the two side by side, replaced the black backround of the rebel Starbridge with white, zoomed in on each of the 108 ship frames (400%), cut out everything except the guns, touched up a few spots, did a lasso on all the guns, pasted them over the pict-based pirate Starbridge sprites, zoomed in 400% to make sure they were in the right position, and then I had to make a mask. To do that I duplicated the Mod Pirate Starbridge sprites, put the two side by side, selected one of them, lightened it till the background was almost white, then filled it in totally black, then repeated several times to get the mask. Then I pasted both in Res-edit and used the neccesary programs to turn them back into rlë8 and rlëD.
For comm pictures, I took the original Pirate Starbridge comm pict, and then I put the civilian Mod Starbridge and Rebel Mod Starbridge next to it, carefully selected the guns, pasted them onto the Pirate Starbridge, and blended the edges to match, then, I added the white gun ends that were on the Rebel comm pict the same basic way. I then touched up what I had and posted it. (also done in ClarisWorks)
To make the target graphics, (The new ones, not the first one) I took an old target, enlarged it a few hundred percent, then I took the comm pict that I had just made, blacked out all the gradient around it, filled the enlarged target all black, filled all the blackened part of the comm pict with white, put a lasso around the whole thing, dragged it into the enlarged target, and then used Nova target generator on it.
In the other ones I added more steps: rotate, then use target generator, or rotate and deform (to give the effect that it isn't rotated, it's actually on its side or something) then use target generator.
I also tried making a shipyard picture, but I couldn't get the guns to look as fake as the rest of the ship (the outfit pictures of guns are really, really, good quality). So it really looked like it was just pasted on. I won't even begin to go through the steps involved in that failure.
So that's just about it. You might be wondering how I figured all this out. Well, it's simple, when Nova was in development, they released movies, so I used my limited resorces to take ships out of the movies and arrange them into sprites for EVO, It was kinda wobbly, but the point is that it took dozens of attempts to get it right, and I learned all the techniques I use today in my 2D ship-part replacements.
