    • Best weapon for conjourer?

I am playing as a conjourer, and I am wondering what the best/most powerful weapon that a conjourer can wield is. I am currently using the Axe Misery. (I can't use, although I have, the dwarven runic sword or the elven bow of destruction). Also, is the mage tower a good place to go? I haven't gone there yet (although I've completed the quests up to just getting the third level of the Learning Tree). Thanks!

Hi macmaxbh, Axe Misery is the best weapon until you can get into the Mage Tower. When you have mastered the Mage Tower, you can purchase the Conjurer's Staff there. Sell the sword and bow to Fungus or the chap in Gwyden Camp 'cause they'll do you no good to carry around. I find that the Conjurer is the most fun to play with the addition of the plug-in, Spells Expander, written by Stark Bledfast. This is not a "cheat" plug-in, but an add-on which gives you new spells to play with, adds new characters and quests, has some new locations, and some awesome weaponry. By far the most powerful weapon the Conjurer can handle is Staff of Lordship which comes in the Spells Expander package. However, it comes pretty well hidden in the package and you have to use intuition and experimentation to obtain it.

Yes, you definitely want to get to the top of the Mage Tower with or without the second plug-in. If you have trouble in the tower, as most do, use the search feature of this web board to find threads about the tower puzzles.

Good luck with your game. ~RD

Find those areas you missed the first time around. You'll want to explore those hidden areas now made accessible with Spells Expander.

Thanks. I am using Spell Expander. Ouch-- I just tried to take on the clump of Mages in the Get Back Sea Goddess Statue-- it's much harder then I remember. Maybe because I had the most powerful? sword avalaible from the Nogrhi village. Not having the dwarven runic sword is really annoying. But, I love revilitize.

I use the Conjurers Staff, and I'd highly reccommend that you DO NOT use the staff that does the most damage, I think it's the Staff of...the staff of....I forget. The CS may do less damage, but it has bonuses which make it most likely the best staff in the game. That is, except for this one staff....

I think that is the staff with the highest damage available at the Mages' Tower.
Hey-- if I need lots of power, I can just cast Wizard of War and Moki? (I just got Moki, so I haven't learned about any effects it might have). Jeez-- even under Wizard of War, a sea giant is reaaalllyy hard to kill. (Just in case you don't know, I love Wizard of War-- I go to Reefs Island and cast that and decrease my experience points required very quickly).

What should I do with the really large amount of money I have (yes, I already have a room in the Mage's Tower, although Croyam's Crown doesn't let me get more spells when I get the expierence). Where should I head for more Spell Expander quests? Should I use the panera's box over and over, or are there people I can talk to?

      Mr. Macmaxbh,

If you have obtained the Moki spell then you will have run through all the quests that come with SE. You may not have all the items that you can get(quicksilver ring, Staff of Lordship), but all of the quests have been completed.

Congrats, I hope you enjoyed it.

It was fun-- good job. I don't have the Staff of Lordship (hint?) but I use the quicksilver ring all the time. Shoot- I'm trying to avoid facing off against the guardian, but I've done about everything else I can do!

The Staff of Lordship is not involved with any quest. There is 1 cryptic rumor that relates to it(though it is worded so that you may not notice it upon first reading).

This item has been intentionally made difficult to locate. As it is the most powerful weapon in the plug-in it should not be easy to get. And in my opinion hacking up an uber-monster is a breeze for many people. Instead I prefer to make people think, heh. Some will enjoy this, others will not. And that's ok.

Look for these types of teasers/brain puzzles in my future plug-in projects(some are currently underway).

      No.

      At least, not yet, heh.

Some of the rumors pertain to Spells Expander, and those that do are mostly true and/or accurate.

Some of the rumors pertain to PoG and/or Trinity. Those also are mostly true and/or accurate.

Some of the rumors pertain to things that I am doing in other plug-in projects. Those rumors will be mostly true and/or accurate.

Some of the rumors pertain to projects that others are working on that I am aware of. Those rumors probably will be mostly true and/or accurate.

Some of the rumors may pertain to a future plug-in written by myself or someone else. Those rumors may be mostly true and/or accurate.

Some of the rumors were just red herrings. Those aren't true.

      🙂

    • Try to find a rumor that pertains to something you have encountered/own and work with that rumor. If it leads to a dead end, try another rumor. The only way to get SoL is some experimentation, and a little thought. Start by experimenting, and then piece together the puzzle.

There comes a point in the game when your character is strong enough to not need many health potions, and you have the weapons and gear you want, and there just isn't anything else to spend you gold on, that you just get richer. Even more so because you are killing off creatures who drop highly saleable things like Ring of Gods. (How many can you possibly wear?) One of my characters now has twelve million gold pieces in the Bank of Garendall put aside for his retirement. Unless you find a condo in South Gidolan you want to purchase, there's not much need for money in the end-game.

As to the second part of your question, I, too, was disappointed when there were not any more spells to find or quests to do, but for that you'll just have to wait for the next plug-in. I think there are at least five plug-ins which will add quests and items which are presently in various stages of development or testing. A few of these will probably be available by Spring, and some that I know of are definitely of the end-game variety, so don't let your character get weak with inactivity. ~RD

    • Also, I am running into some problems with Spell Expander. First, when I ask people about their spells, I have to say "No, I don't want to know anything else" four times from the list (first time it goes to "I don't know that spell", then you hit no three times). Is that an isolated problem? Also, teleporting (not word) crashes my machine. (with creating and recalling memory). I preform the spell, it transports me, but when the screen loads, it is well-- off. Then PoG crashes.

Yes, this has been reported and the problem is being evaluated. (Read: I know the problem but haven't quite convinced myself that the time it will take to rewrite the code to fix it is worth the albeit annoyance factor).

Are you using PoG 1.0.2 or an earlier version?

You say this only happens with the mark/recall spells, or does it occur in the other teleportation spells(blink, relocate, portal)?

I know Stark won't like to hear that you're having crashes. I can't answer the question because five testers and several hundred downloads have gone crash free after some bugs were squashed. He will want to know the details about this: what kind of computer? what OS? how much memory allotted? what other plug-ins are also loaded? and anything else you can think of that might help solve the problem. Is this something new in your game of has it been happening right along?

Edit: Ya snuck in while I'se been typin, Stark

Wow. I tried Moki. And I got the Staff of Lordship. Wow. (Two of the rumors probably were helpful)
I have an iMac G3 500Mhz (slot-loading CDRW). I am running Mac OS X 10.1.5, so I'll skip the memory question. I am running the plugins: Trinity, Sapphire, TelePort, Bankers Guild, Regenify, SpeedyKets, Timer, and Spell Expander. None of the transportation spells seem to work (although I might just have typed in bad x,y for one of them). Strangely, blink USED to work, I remember trying it once (yeah, I think I did). What happens I seem to teleport beyond the limits of the screen/block (or once, when I recalled to Witches Finger, I wound up in the middle of the ocean, then it crashed)

Have you bought lots of elixers yet, until you can kill Sea Giants in one hit without a weapon and where all of your other stats are around 500 or so? If you have, I'm afraid that you're basically done. And to help you get the Staff of Lordship, I'd suggest making a checklist of all the rumors and crossing out the ones you know are true/have already solved. I did that and came up with two, but both proved to be fruitless when I investigated them. One was about a hole in the Plains of Endlesswind, the other was about missing knights in Berglum. Who knows what rumor leads to the SoL?

You must have missed my earlier question: What version of PoG are you running? Click on the PoG application and check its information. Be very sure that you are running PoG 1.0.2. If you have an older version(1.0 or 1.0.1) then the transportation spells will all crash. This is noted in the readme file of Spells Expander. If you are running 1.0.2 then we'll explore things further...
