    • I think that there is a program where you can spell check your descs, but I don't know much about it. I'd just suggest writing them in Word and just running the spell checker.

Naw, it isn't really; NovaTools make resource editing very clean, and the only really new concept are the ncbs, which are explained in the bible.

uh. I don't know where you've been for say the last 15 years, but Word is out for both PC and Mac. Why does using word automatically label me as a PC user? Now if I said: go into Windows..., then that might indicate that I use a PC, but since I referred to a program that can be used on both platforms, there's no indication that I use a PC (but the fact that I'm on a forum for a Mac only game might give an indication that I don't). In fact, I use macs at home. I'd use a PC, but I'm afraid of the temptation to only play games all day everyday, so while macs have plenty of quality games, I'm not going to be playing MOHAA, or Jedi Knight II, or CS, or whatever from dawn till dusk.

Quark and Word are two different beasts entirely. My dad is also a graphic designer (as am I, to a lesser degree...), so I've always had good programs to play with. 🙂

Word has been available for Macintosh since time immemorial. The Macintosh had a graphical interface version of Word back when the version for the Intel platform was stuck in MS-DOS.

    • Okay, sorry for my ignorance about the history of macs (why are PC's so much more succesful than Macs when the mac is clearly more advanced. Okay, to be honest one of the major reasons why I like macs over PCs is becuase they have more frames/minuite. Yes, I know that sucks, but PCs always seemed tacky to me because everything doesn't look so smooth, that and EV 😉 )

For anyone who's interested, I've done the governments, weapons, outfits and most of the ships, but I won't be doing much work on the plug in the next week, exams are pretty much filling my time up (bl**dy competetive school)

    • Oh yeah, I forgot to say that (spoilers, so if you don't want to know, look away)

most are my ships are EV ships (the rebel fighter is just a hawk with green wings, I always liked hawks :p), I've used a couple of EVO ships (krait and turncoat) and some designs I found on the internet (kestrel fighter, dreadnought, freighter, corvette/freighter/warship thing and the Rebel and Confed fighters from saber studio's). I've decided to only make freighters (except the Rebel freighter) avaidable from pirate planets (gladiators aren't supposed to be hauling cargo). I've made several fighter bays (I've managed to make some borderline bay graphics, not the ugly green X's) and the equivalent of the mass driver (gatling gun), fires very quickly, like the one in Pale. None of the ships have weapon systems similar to their EV/O counterparts (except a couple). The weapons are a mix of EV and Internet graphics, as well as my own modifications to the laser cannon/turret (to make a red and yellow version).

Actually, I think that you're thinking of FPS (frames per second), and there's absolutely no correlation between a PC a Mac, and the FPS that they reach. FPS is related to the power of the processor and the computer's video card. For instance, my friend's P3 (with a GeForce 4) hits a much higher frame rate at a much higher detail level in UT, than my G3 with a Radeon, and my G4 (with a GeForce4) also hits high FPS as well. I'm not saying that Macs are better than PCs, and I'm not saying that PCs are better than Macs, I'm just saying that there aren't very many reasons why you shouldn't use either.

Sounds good, and extremely interesting. If you want a beta-tester, be sure to ask me.

    • Okay, sorry to bring up this old topic again but I'm too lazy to make another one. Anyways, what I was going to say is that my exams are over and I've restarted the plug and I've finished making the ships 🙂 (and I added a Rebel Shuttle), 22 in total. 10 fighters, 8 warships and 4 freighters (if you count the shuttle as a freighter). I've also added a captured gatling gun that you can buy on pirate worlds (It's less powerful, has shorter range and fires less shots per second). I'll keep you posted on any progress I make.

      ------------------
Hand me the gun and say that again.

    • Oh yeah, I forgot to say that all fighters are 16 by 16, instead of 32 by 32.

(Edit) I also forgot to say that I added two more fighters, the Masikovra Interceptor and the Antonida Interdictor. Both are in bay form, but you can't buy the bays, they come as standard for the Corvette and Antonida Dreadnought (/Edit)

The corvette's pretty small. Are you sure that'd work? Don't forget that you'd still need to make outfits for the bays or else bad stuff'll happen when the player tries to upgrade his ship.

The Interceptor's little more than a Defender, and only 2 of them can be fitted and yes, I have made outfits for them, even if they aren't for sale (me remembers trying to fire my fixed gun in Frozen Heart)
