Well, that question is a bit vague. What exactly are you looking for in a tutorial? One the shows how to create a ship? How to do textures/Bumpmapping? how to do animation? How to create an outfit? How to do light glows/lens flares? How to use the spline modeler? Something else?
You should be a little more specific. However, I'm assuming you want to create either a ship or an outfit.
A good way to start working with Inifni-D, would be to look at other peoples models. The models from EVO are available (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/vftp/show.pl?product=evo&category;=guides&display;=date&file;=EVO_3D_Designs.sea.bin")here(/url). (url="http://"http://www.zutroy.com/Infini-D/")This page(/url) also has some models, and though most are not geared toward space/fantasy, some may be of help.
There is a tutorial on making ships (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/vftp/show.pl?product=evo&category;=guides&display;=date&file;=Shipbuilders_Guide.sit.hqx")here(/url). Though I don't know how good it is, since I have not read it.
Also, once you get into the spline modeler, you should read (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum9/HTML/003013.html")this topic(/url).
Hope that helps.

Dude. Publicity
Though when I made the Shipbuilder's Guide to Infini-D, I assumed that the user already knew how to make the models and concentrated on making the animations and pictures for EV/O.

That CargoMaster sure is a beaut, Captain Skyblade! Though, with those two large "arms" out there, it could be converted and used as a carrier. Wonder how many fighters it could hold?

Yeap, if you read the description at the Image Gallery, it says just that. Can indeed be used as a warship. Each arm holds 150 tons of cargo, so you could bet on a lot of fighters.
I'd love to see you get serious with Infini-D... Weepul makes us proud. It's really a superb program, no matter how old it is.
Oh, and I just finished this (url="http://"http://saberstudios.evula.net/3dimages/DoonLightsaberLarge.jpg")lightsaber(/url). Also an Infini-D graphic.

Thanks, CS! I haven't been to the IG in a while, but I'll stroll on over after I get through here. I know very little about Infini-D, except what I read here and elsewhere. I don't yet have my copy of ID, but I went to eBay and found someone selling a copy of version 4.0. He's in the UK, so I'm having to wait a bit for it to arrive. It's only costing me $55.00 (approx 47 pounds UK, incl. s&h;). I hope it gets here soon! I like the lightsaber! Very useful for finding your way in the dark, isn't it? As for the ship, I can't say as I like the dark coloring, except on warships (which should be dark).
But she's still a looker! I thought you said it was made with Infini-D, but the text (can't see the pic) in the IG says it was made with Photoshop. Which one did you use?
Ciao!

$55? Ain't bad... it'll be a good investment.
The lightsaber is good for both finding your way in the dark and hacking your foes to piles of scorched limbs.
You might want to re-read that text in the Image Gallery... both of those pics were made in Infini-D. I edited the Cargomaster images with Photoshop, though.
You must have a mighty dark monitor... Even the shadowed areas of the CM are visable on my machine.

What I meant when I said I couldn't see the pic was the only thing I get is an empty box with a red x up at the top (in the IG). I read all of the posts there, but all I could find was where you said it was made with Photoshop 5.5. Had no trouble at all with the pic at the website you gave earlier. However, when I clicked on the links to your site (in the IG), all I got was one of those darned "not found" error messages. As for the box with the red x, I see lots of those on the IG, most often from those pics put up before 2K2 (and even some after 1/1/2K2). Well, I can't play EV/O/N or work with Infini-D until I get my iMac fixed. I'm from Lake City, Florida, and so far, I haven't found one person who knows anything about them. If I have to, I'll take it to CompUSA, in Gainesville to fix.
Cya!

What's wrong with it?
------------------
Well, and this is quite embarrassing, I accidentally splashed some Coca-Cola into the open cd-rom drive. We tried to clean it, but it just wouldn't work correctly after that. And trying to find someone in my town to repair it is like looking for a needle missile in a stack of pursuit missiles. However, I may have a line on one place here that might do the job. I'll let y'all know. Lemme tell ya, I like my PC, but I MISS MY IMAC!
BTW: Is this a new thing on the board, having to type in your username and password each time you reply/make a new topic?

So wait, is it just your CD Drive that doesn't work? If so, the lens is probably just sticky and dirty - wipe it off, it should be fine. (unless you can't get to it ;)) But you said you can't play Nova? Which would mean the computer doesn't work at all??? If that's the case - there may not BE a way to fix it. But than again, electronics are more sugar resistant than one would suspect

No, you just have cookies off.
P.S. What kind of iMac do you have?
------------------
Like I said we tried to clean the lens (even though the manual says not to) and the mechanism (it's all in the little doohickey that slides out of the computer). At first it made the most horrible grinding noises, then settled down into a more squeaking type of noise. Even then, no matter what I tried, no cd icon would come up on the screen. After a while, all I would hear was a "click-click-click." I probably still could play the games and all, but I wouldn't be able to use the cd-rom drive for anything. I'm willing to bet the only thing to do is to get a replacement drive or an external one. Oh, my iMac is a G3 model. Now that I think about it, even the little light on the cd-rom drive's button went out, or maybe it was fried. I dunno. Like I said, I got a handle on someone who might be able to fix it. I'll be calling them Monday morning to see. Of course, I could just go out and buy an external cd-rom drive. We'll see what happens.

Good God, if the manual says not to clean the lens, then don't clean it. You might ruin whatever warranty the thing may have. Just use a CD-ROM lens cleaner (It usually has a brush or something attached to the bottom of the CD).

Yes, but I didn't know that at the time. And a lens cleaner wouldn't have helped with the mechanism down below the lens (which is where I think most of the stuff got to).

Seeing as his iMac is atleast 3 years old, what ever warranties it had, have most likely run out long since.
------------------
The warranties ran out 90 days from date of purchase. So I guess you could say it's out of warranty.

ahem Back on topic...
Cpt. Skyblade: You keep flattering me...
Ace: I would suggest experimentation - that's how I acquainted myself with Infini-D. The site Cpt. Skyblade posted has some interesting stuff, but I personally didn't find them to be that useful. I actually started by fooling around with the material editors and positioning system, then moving on to unraveling the modeller.
If you get to the point when you want some tips and techniques or problem solving, try searching in the Image Gallery. I've made several posts containing mini-tutorials, as have others (including Squinky and Cpt. Skyblade), but they're mostly useful if you have some knowledge of the program.
Good luck, I look forward to seeing your work!
------------------
Thanks, Weepul! I'll check out the IG and see what I can find. Good advice!
Thanks!

Ace: I haven't even used Photoshop 5.5 in about four months. Must have been reading someone else's post... I've been using 6.0 strictly for awhile now. I'm going to try and upgrade to 7 soon.
Weepul: Sorry, you and Infini-D have just earned yourselves a good reputation.
Regarding the website I mentioned earlier, it taught me many good modelling techniques during my early days, as well as use of booleans, lighting etc. It's great if you're in the beginning stages.
By the way Weepul, would you be interested in helping me compile sets of tutorials for Infini-D? I'd like to create a page for such tutorials, as there seems to be quite an increase of Infini-D users around here. Just type something out, include screenshots of what you're doing, and I'll create a webpage for 'em. Nothing surpasses thy Infini-D knowledge, master.
Anyway, that's fine if you don't have the time... I'll just work on some tutorials on my own and get you to read them, checking for bad methods or easier ways to do particular tasks. Whichever works best for you. Squinky's welcome to participate as well.
