    • Special CD?

I am in the middle of ordering Pillars of Garendall, and was wondering what kind of "special" movies and goodies about Pillars of Garendall where on Ambrosia CD 4 (the "Pillars of Garendall CD")

      Thanks for your time,

    • I'm not sure. I got one of the defective ones. I'm too lazy to get another.

    • when I got my coldstone CD with the PoG demo on it, it had 2 movies: One for the learning tree, and one for Lilith Island

Cool. Sounds like it is worth the extra five dollars :). And, I will happily support Ambrosia with my hard-earned currency.

    • Man, I d/l'ed PoG, is there any other way to get the movies? Do they come on the CD with Coldstone?

      Mr. Dampeoples,

The Coldstone CD does include the movies for POG. The regular CD(which is cd 7 btw, despite what the web page says) may or may not contain the movies. Previously the cd's were goofed up and did not contain the movies. I have not heard whether it has been fixed yet or not.

And Ambrosia has not made the movies available via download. I asked a long time ago and was told that they had not made a decision regarding making the movies available to download. So they still may make them available, or they may not. I'm not sure, but they currently are not available except by ordering the Coldstone CD(and possibly the regular cd 7).

      Mr. Stark Bledfast,
I believe that the movies are not on CD 7, because I own CD 7, and have searched and not found the movies. But, I may have missed them, but I sincerely doubt it.

And the Coldstone CD you mention, is that CD 4? I hope so, because that's the one bound for my house 🙂

      Thanks for your time,

      Mr. Joesterizer,

No, CD 4 is not the Coldstone CD. In fact you can not, to my knowledge, get CD 4 anymore. Ambrosia's web page states CD 4 is the most current cd, but this is incorrect. The most current cd is 7 which contains all games prior to, and including EV: Nova. When Ambrosia brings a new game out they include it on their CD and increment the number to differentiate between the previous versions. Since they are up to 7 all previous cd's should be discontinued and unavailable as they do not contain all their games anymore.

The Coldstone CD is a cd that contains only Coldstone. You get this CD by ordering Coldstone from Ambrosia's Coldstone webpage. The cost is $49.

    • Mr. Bledfast and Mr. Joesterizer,
I have, in lieu of the Coldstone CD, received CD7, where would the movies be located on this CD? I'd like to watch them while Coldstone is on it's way to MY house. Thanks for the help.

      Mr. Dampeoples,

If you browse the cd to the POG folder, there should be a folder within it called Movies. Look inside there. If there are any files within then you have the movies. If it is empty then you do not have them.

Post back and let us know if you have them. I have not heard that the movies are on the CD 7, but I hope they are.

    • Mr. Bledfast AND Mr./Mrs. All Others Interested,
The movies, regretfully, are not on my CD. I guess it's not so special after all.

    • Mr. Bledfast,
If you point your browser to https://secure.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/regis...gister?item=pog , and scroll down to the bottom of the page, you will see the ability to order the "Pillars of Garendall CD", that has "special movies and other extras that are available only on this CD". The picture is of Ambrosia CD 4. And, as you said earlier:

But, maybe they are still giving out CD 4 if you buy the "POG CD", and CD 4 has movies on it? Or, the CD 4 picture could be a typo 🙂 but then, what CD will I be getting in the mail?.

Thank you very much for your time,

      (edit)added speculation if Ambrosia CD 4 was a typo(/edit)

(This message has been edited by Joesterizer (edited 05-06-2002).)

    • I got robbed! The little card in my CD mailer gives me my PoG code, but I used the D/L version, now I'm really confused. Oh well, I did rant about useless movies, etc. in RPG's in another post, I'll settle down now.

The listing on the POG web page is incorrect. CD 4 is also listed on Ambrosia's demo cd web page, located (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/Ware/")here(/url). And again this is incorrect. The current cd is 7.

What the demo CD is is simply a collection of all the games Ambrosia has made. When they release a new game the demo CD is updated, and the number is incremented to keep track of it. When the CD is updated the older CD is discontinued, because the new CD has everything the older CD had, plus the new stuff. Make sense?

Now, on to the POG problem at hand. When CD 4 was released it was supposed to contain not only POG, but movies for POG as well as the Trinity plug-in. Unfortunately there was a problem during the creation of the CD, and the movie folder and the plug-ins folder(which should have contained trinity) were empty. Thus no movies, and no Trinity plug-in. What made this worse however is that there was a Trinity folder, but no data in it. So a lot of people thought they had received Trinity, but could not get it working. That was a fun few weeks of troubleshooting... hehe.

Anyhow, back to the point, there is no CD 4. Only CD 7(until Bubble Trouble X and Pop-Pop get released, then we'll probably be at CD 8 or 9, depending how closel together they are released). Since CD 4 did not have the movies as claimed, due to a screw up, we had hopes that it would have been fixed in later releases. Unfortunately it doesn't appear this way.

The Coldstone CD however does have the movies on it. I have the CD, I know this to be true. And it looks like this is the only way to get the movies at the moment.

I hope this clears things up. If not, ask away.

Yes, please do post back if you do indeed receive a demo CD with movies on it. To my knowledge the only CD that contains the movies is the Coldstone CD. I would love to be proved wrong on this however. 🙂

Are you not posting the movies to get more money from CD, or could one obtain permision to post them online

      Mr. Bledfast,
I have recieved the CD in the mail, and it is CD 7, and contains no movies. I already have CD 7, I ordered (and recieved) it while registering EV: Nova. I have e-mailed (url="http://"mailto:help@AmbrosiaSW.com")mailto:help@AmbrosiaSW.com(/url)help@AmbrosiaSW.com

Well, I think saying they lied is a little harsh and strong. They did intend for the movies to be there, andwhen the original CD was released they did state explicitly that the CD contained the movies. But after the CD's were pressed it was realized that either the movies did not make it onto the CD's, or that something goofed up and they didn't get put on(ie, not sure who's fault it was).

I'd call this more of a screw-up that still hasn't been fixed, unfortunately. Though regardless what you call it, it still doesn't help you get the movies. Btw, does the CD contain the Trinity plug-in? And not just the directory, but the actual information? Check this by doing a "Get Info" on the Trinity folder, which should be on the CD. If the folder is smaller than 15 megs, then this problem also hasn't been fixed yet.

      Thanks for letting us know.
