    • Empire, War w/o End mission

I am stuck on the Weave dominate Enyo mission. I have been trying to complete this mission for over a week! When I jump into the system, there are at least 12 UE Carriers, Cruisers, 8 Frigates, and all their fighters and gunships. Once I elimitate them, then I have to dominate the Station....

Argh! I run out of escorts, fighters, ammo and shields before I can even dominate the station. I am in a Weave Beam Cruiser with 4 stingrays, a corvette dock with 2 corvettes, laser minigun, high energy laser, beam turret and 38 nuke rockets, and I bought 6 corvette escorts. And the Weave only sends me 2 weave cruisers to help and they get wiped out quickly.

Should I sell the corvette fighters, beam turret, laser minigun, and nukes, and maybe buy just rockets or guided heavy rockets? Maybe I need to get a Sauridian or Weave Carrier (but they are just too s-l-o-w!).

      Any help is appreciated.

Sorry, my bad (I have been playing EVO too long). TERRAN Dreadnoughts, Heavy Cruisers, Missile Cruisers, Frigates, plus Bounty Hunters and the local militia. And the Mission is called "The Politics of Need", and the Weave tells me they are sending a fleet with me, but like I said, I only get two Weave Cruisers.

    • I know it's cheating, but I usually go into the plug with Res-Edit and "adjust" the defense fleet numbers down somewhat. I'm not sure if it's in this one or one of the others, but at some point you're given the choice to go buy the "new" Weave Support Carrier. If and when they do, GET IT! The more ships you have in space means fewer ships can be launched from the station/planet (36 total).

I certainly will get the "new" ship if offered.

    • No prob. I got yer meaning! I posted in the other Empire thread that my "Empire 2.2" plug was screwed up (for whatever reason) and that everything there (descs, systs, spobs...) was composed of long strings of strange characters. I doubt it's because I'm playing on an emulated PC because I've downloaded and played all of Tim Isles' plugs on the emulator with no problem. Could you perhaps zip up a good copy of "Empire 2.2" and e-mail it to me? My addy is (what else?) • I did download it from the addons page, but, like I said, the "Empire 2.2" plug was messed up. Tell ya what, I'll try downloading it again and see what happens.

      Tried it...no luck there.

I have some advice too, wondergirl. Try getting as many Nukes as you can fit; they are extremely powerful, and 3 hits can take down a Frigate. Though you cant fit enough to take down all the defense fleet ships, you should at least be able to take down a dozen ships. Also, try capturing 6 Tyrant Cruisers. They are the most powerful ship you can get without joining either government. They sport numerous Missiles, 5 Nukes (!), 4 Lightnings, and Neutron Turrets. Should last a while. Oh, and here is what I did: I used my Neutron Turrets and high- energy laser (aka X- Ray Laser), because the X-Ray is the second most powerful in the game after the Particle beam. When shields went low, I ran and regenerated full shields. I fought off more ships, and ran again. Rinse, repeat. Whe I got tired of having to fight seemingly endless ships (though there is actually only about 70, I think), I just Forklifted them. Nitpick to CaptAceHardDrive: the ship youre thinking about is called Escort Carrier. The Support Carrier does not exist until E2.

PS. As for capturing big escorts, try capturing a Hammerhead Carrier (only exists in the system which contains Ruby). One ship has 32 fighters, which means you dont have to capture more than 1 Heavy Cruiser to get to the 36 ship limit.

    • Thanks, General Cade Smart, for all the great advice. Just a few things...
      I have never "Forklifted" anything.
I have the High Energy Laser, et al. Should I buy the Particle Beam also?
I think Neutron Turrets have too short of range.
I am in the process of getting Tyrants (buggers!).
As for the Hammerhead at Ruby. I already took that one out in a mission. Are there more? If so, I will go hunt that wascally wabbit.

Thanks for thanking me! Feels good! So you dont want to cheat in a lighter way either by using the Forklift, in addition to not wanting to reduce then defence fleet size? Do what you want, but I got tired of fighting fleet upon fleet. The Particle Beam is exclusive to the Empire string. You can newer have it in the Weave string unless you capture a Hammerhead Carrier or cheat. Thats funny, because Neutron Turrets are the longest range turret in the plug. Why do you have a Laser Minigun then? It has far shorter range than Neutrons. But perhaps you just arent a turret person and like beams more... 🙂 Buggers? Hehe, are they hard to capture? Well, yes, they are pretty hard to fight too. Nukes, Neutron Turrets. Yes, Hammerheads exist in Ruby outside the mission. WARNING: Ruby always contains several Terran warships. If you want a Hammerhead, prepare for a serious fight. Also, Rubys legal status more sensitive than that of the other systems. If you fight a few warships, you will make Ruby hate you quick.

General Cade Smart, Ruby hated me the minute I joined the Weave. Yes, I get tired of those seemingly never-ending fights, also, but there's braggin' rights, you know! Back to weapons...I think I should reconfigure my fire power. I have 2 Barrage Turrets, aren't they more powerful than the Neutrons?

    • A few more items...
Dominating Enyo was probably the longest battle and the fastest fighting I have ever done...hint: Lots of big escorts and...."Run Away"! I mainly used my primary weapons for this one, since I ran out of Nukes early. I have a strategy question. I wonder if the battle would be easier if I dominated Enyo BEFORE accepting the mission? Would the mission even be offered? Hmmm. If anyone has tried this, please let me know.

General Cade Smart: Yup, I killed the only Hammerhead. I went looking for more and there aren't any.

CaptAceHarddrive: You were right, you do get a chance to buy the Weave's newest ship. It is called the Prototype Cruiser. It is offered after dominating Enyo, before Sol. Oh, and did you ever solve your "Empire" problems?

      ------------------
      Something pithy.

      (/B)

Sorry for the late reply. Barrage Turrets are Pulse (=Proton) Turrets which fire at a incredible speed, thus making them powerful. However, they cannot match the raw power of Neutron Turrets. Thats why Dreadnoughts have them. Barrages do only 10 damage, and I cant remember exactly, but Neutrons do atleast over 20 damage. Probably even 40. As for Hammerheads, thats funny. I could swear I saw them at Ruby. Just as I could see Prototype Cruisers by repeatedly landing on George's World (which is above Satori). Probably the destruction of the Hammerhead Carrier sets a bit which causes them to stop appearing. The completion text talks about that you have set Empires research program back by five years.
So you would probably have needed to do it before the mission to destroy it. After dominating Earth (which is equally long as Enyo Fuel Refinery Posted Image ), have fun with the Aliens. Starts at Palshife, and to actually destroy Alien Fighters, you need a Tractor Beam and Neutron Turrets. Get on top of one, Tractor Beam it, and fire. If you did it right and rammed it by getting in middle, it will quickly suffer and eventually explode.

    • Nope, wondergirl, it just doesn't seem to work on emulated PC's. I just decided to play it as usual (in EV, strict play...). Thanks anyway, wondergirl!

Aaaaah, most excellent. And I will try the Neutrons. Thanks!

    • I know this thread is a bit old and most of the questions have already been answered. But its nice to see someone playing the plug in - and I was on holiday anyway so didn't see the thread as it started.

To increase the bragging rights you might have wondergirl - the Aliens in Empire are harder to kill in Empire for EVO than in Empire for EV. Because of the improvements to the AI between the two games it is much harder to latch on to the Aliens from behind and stay in their blind spot to destroy them. It is nigh on impossible to kill them using the standard EV weapons and only because of the Neutron Turret and similar in Empire is it possible in Empire for EVO.

Finally, I have one question for all of you: What do you think of the Free Coffee interlude? (It's not in the original but serves a deep purpose in Empire for EVO)

      ------------------
Its amazing how "tsk, tsik, nik" can mean anything from "There's a bomb in the bus, get help!" to "I'm hungry, feed me"
In case of ambiguity about anything I say - choose the nicest interpretation.
