The Lazira is just too weak and can carry too little for my tastes. CW is much better, and the Igazra and UE Cruiser are also good, but the Voinian cruiser is the best (although a bit slow). A Lazira also can't carry enough weapons (only 3 turrets) for my tastes as well. Just not my ship...

As a newbie, I tried to get a CW as soon as possible. True, it's got plenty of space, and plenty fire-power on first sight, but: it still lacks speed - no discussion helps. Okay, too weak - where ? diff'rence between three and four turrets is a TIME difference. And - CW is not a one-day-jump-ship. That's slow. Next, if AI would be clever enough to do a monty python, now that would be a challenge, wouldn't it? - don't forget that, you can beat any of those ships 'cause we're human and they're AI.... But I agree, it may just not be your ship. That's what we have personal preferences for. >Better don't meet MY dreadnought...

Actually, the CW can be quite fast when upgraded properly. Still, once you get into a CW, you shouldn't stop there. After I get a CW, my next target is the Voinian cruiser. The best ship in the game.... Of course, there is the dreadnaught...

I've played all the major capitol ships so here's my analysis.

There are 3 major types of combat and piloting styles:
1: Secondary weapons: If you have a hundred million billion hunter missiles. The Igadzra Warship, due to its high upgrade space.
2: Fighter Carrier: Having a fully stocked UE fighter bay and Azdara Bay. UE Cruiser, due to it's even higher upgrade space and included UE fighter bay. (only other place it's available is the UE Carrier)
3: Turrets/Maneuverability: 3-4 Turrets (Type differs depending on enemy, see table below), all the speed upgrades, shield and armor crap if neccesary, mostly used in Monty Python. CW, due to it's superior maneuver ability.

So my choice is: The CW, yes I still like the CW best, I've finished all of the central objectives and numerus others and I still think it's the best overall. The Igadzra is too slow and bulky. The UE Warship is only good if you like the carrier style (otherwise my second choice.) and is too slow through hyperspace.

Then there is the Arada (no I didn't forget it.), not bad, it was the first ship I took down the dreadnought with. Then I took it down with my CW and realized how much faster and easier it was.

An added bonus to the CW is the fighter bay... why? The CW is maneuverable but not overly fast, so if you're fighting voinians and see alot of disabled ships just unload your fighters and blast em. (this is even with the speed enhancements)

#2- UE Cruiser
#3- Arada
#4- Igadzra
#5- Lazira/Freight Courier (HEAVILY upgraded)

The cresent warship's crap! It can't take out a VHfighter without getting beaten! Go Igazara! It's my favorite ship. It can beat the crap out of anything!

I'd say my favorite ship to fly is the azdara, but the best ship is probably the Igazra, followed by the UE cruiser and voinian cruiser. I enjoy flying all four, but they have different styles.

1. Azdara: zip around bigger ships in the crescent and kill them. The drawback is no cargo space, and it works poorly against voinians. Lots of fun though.

2. Igazra: Big ship, reasonably fast, lots of space. If well piloted, it can kill anything else in the galaxy.

3. UE cruiser: Basically a slight variation on the Igazra in playstyle terms. More crew, less speed, a little more space, much less shields, but much more armor. Generally a worse choice in the crescent because of the speed problems, but the best ship there is for fighting voinians, because of the cargo space, sheer firepower, and the fighters, which are cheap and plentiful enough to make them practical. Use them in packs to kill voinian warships.

4. Voinian Cruiser: Thumbs down, even though I use it a lot. The space really evaporates quickly if you decide to use neutron turrets, and you cannot use it at all without the three upgrages. It can't do much to dodge hunter missles, and fighter packs can take it down quick. It's not so much that this ship isn't good against the UE as that it's actually very vulnerable considering its reputation and takes so little skill to use. I might consider it if the fighters were cheaper and/or available at the voinian outposts. As is, you'd have to go back to somewhere with a shipyard every time you wanted new ones, and this ship is so slow that just making a quick trip is quite boring.

I decided that Crecent Warships are ace for style, and kewl for running away, but they are crap when it comes to fightinglengthy battles. Especialy against large convoys of esscorts. The other lazier or what ever the damn thing is called, might be good for short burst in and nick everything in a sort of a way. And that Igadzra (The big long yellow one), well, looking at it the other day reminded me of something(not been perverted or anything), but I thought it looked rather like the male penis. He says sarcasticly

Have you made friends with the Voinians they pay very well if you get on there good side 1 of the Voinian missions pay 85,000 to I think 100,000. You can get money fast that way.

Damn, a year since the last post, and I never even thought it would get this far. Haha, my account went tits up, I lost my password, and several months later I change my email address, I only just found my password! I play EVO now. Anyway, to anyone who poated here, and is still around on these boards, thanks for the help!

BTW : If anyones intrested, I got killed in the end, I think I tried to take on Earth, underestimating exactly how many destroyers it would take to blow me up. I can't remember what ship I ended up using in the end, all I know is, I forgot to eject. And when stict play is turned on, it's pretty hard to come back to life (duuu). That was the last time I ever play EVO.

I personally feel that the best ship is the Voinian Heavy fighter. I may take some hits on this one but it is the most indestructible ship in the game. Lose the rocket launchers, add the normal and the experimental shield regen., dospect and 4 shield enhancers(VERY Necessary), you can destroy any ship with ease. Plenty of room for weapon even after you upgrade speed and acceleration. NO need to manuver period. I sat in front of the Dreadnought and fired point blank at it till it was destroyed. The ship could not break my defense. There are other combinations of almost invinsible ships. Usually they are a figher. But if you have a plasma siphon and 3 neutron cannons on a ship you can carve up anything. That is the really plus of this ship. The only ship that can beat it in the game in the Disco Bison. That is, if you sit at point blank range right in front of it.

Listen, in my opinion, this game was designed so that any ship can destroy one another, it's just a matter of know how, monty pythoning, and upgrades.

Can someone please remind me what monty pythining actualy means? I have asked this question before, and got an answer, but since that was probably a year ago I can't remember (if you wantto know the reason why I can't remember back that far look at my signature). Thanks.
