Ship construction is the govt's alternative for purchasing ships. Purchasing ships is generally not allowed in Webstories, but I'll let the MCD do it for now, just as an emergency thing, but they can't do it again. You can build as many ships as you want, as long as you follow the right construction rate- in other words, you just say you initiated ship construction, and the ships you wanna build, and after they're built, they're part of your fleet. A few posts ago I told everyone the construction rate for this story. You can also keep the upgraded phase turrets, however, since you stole the prototype designs, your version will be different, higher rate of fire and less range than the miranu version. You are free to design technologies, upgrades, etc, but the speed of research and development is slowed by construction, for less resorces are available. since you're new, and didn't know the rules, and that's MY fault, and your enemies are getting more and more ships, I'll give you a 8 crescent warship , 12 Lazira bonus. Directly to north Tip. Oh, and you dont have to take 10 posts to get the designs to your south tip fleets, just be prepared to lose a few ships to the zachit and strands. Then again, I'm sure the Adzgari would help you get the plans to south tip, just ask them. An azdara is already buzzing arount north tip station, just ask it ;). </edit>

A dark, hunched over hooded figure is hunched over at a seat at a dark bar. He pounds his fist on the table, and growns "Gimme another drink." The bartender slowly hands him his vodka, and when he pays, everyone notices the blood on his hands. his gray, mottled brown, leathery hands.

Suddenly the door busts open, and several heavily armed UE soldiers bust in. They Quickly converge on the hooded figure. The hodded figure turns around, and his hood flies off. A Voinian! Several patrons in the bar run, and the Voinian releases several Neutron shots from his rifle before he falls with a fatal blaze rifle wound to the chest.

the screen fades out and the end credits roll along the screen. REDchigh smiles. He always enjoys an action flick every once and a while.

The Destroyers are still under construction...

The UE scoutship in miranu space is still hailing Mira, hoping for a response.

Azdgari
The Adzgari have developed the first batch of Azdgari-made phased beamers. They are stronger than the Zidigar versions, with a wider beam, and no fuel use, however the Azdgari dont have any Diamonds left to make more. They dont know where they can get them, either.

To answer your question, yes you can develop ships and technologies. Other new players must note that RENEGADES ARE NOT TOTAL IDIOTS , no matter how nasty they are. Also, when someone says it'll take <insert number here> posts to complete research or ship building, that usually means <insert number here> of that person's own posts. And about shipbuilding, you should say what ships your building and how many, and a reasonable amount of time until it's finished; i.e., you really wouldn't want to say something like 'Building 50 Crescent Warships. Time to completion: One post.' Just a little clarification from a (true) veteran roleplayer.

Emalgha high command was in uproar. Lord Admiral Tubel stood at the helm of the Emalgha command ship, the E.S.S. Dragoon as reports of the attack flooded in. He relayed the casualties to High Elder Zin, now holding emergency council on Emalgha.
"Lord Zin, we have lost a further 16 fighters and 4 warships. In return we have destroyed only 2 of their warships and 7 of their smaller ships. We have lost count of the number of fighters destroyed but it is belived to be in the mid thirties. There seems no end to them."

OOC: Red? Your map shows that the Nebulae have been explored. If this is true, I'm building a research base at F-25 instead of Smott. Also, you can call my weapon the SAO (Search and Obliterate :)).

Construction at Keld, an asteroid in Smott, had begun. The workers were tunneling into the asteroid itself, hoping to build the facility inside. They were going to build two more such bases in Smott, in the asteroids of Jamuraa and Tolaria. Laziras were carrying Zacha troopers into Smott, to man the bases when completed.

Construction of the Dryad was going nicely, as was the SAO upgrade. The SAO would have a range nearly twice that of the Crescent SAD, making it the longest-ranged weapon ever created. With it, a fleet of Dryads could unleash unlimited destruction on anything within their range, and it probably wouldn't be able to fire back. The Dryads would also be armed with two advanced phase turrets and a swivel cannon, making them fair in close combat. They would probably be needed to be escorted by Crescent Fighters.

Asriel reminded himself that the Crescent Fighters themselves were in severe need of an upgrade. Their speed could easily be increased, and five swivel AP cannons could be fitted to them. If necessary, a variant could be fitted with a secondary weapon of some sort, to make it more effective.

John Walker, Renegade commanding, watched the Voinan fleet emerge into real space.
"Send the Voinan's a message!" he barked. "Voinans, we are members of the Human Renegades. We have no quarrel with you. Help us in the attack against the people of this planet and we will help you against the UE."
After the transmission, the Voinan fleet paused, considering the offer. The reply came back.
"Yes"
With that, the Renegade fleet launched a full barrage at the Emalgha warships, along with the Voinans. The Emalgha weapons, which were all but useless against the Renegade ships, were highly effective against the Voinans. But in the end, the massed forces were too much for the Emalgha, whose wooden ships couldn't stand against the massed firepower. The renegades plundered the planet Kelmoan of all metal and higly valued resources before handing the planet over to the Voinans and returning home. Remaining ships: 2 Voinan Cruisers and 1Frigate. 19 Turncoats and 15 Helians.

A Azdara jumps into UE space, then Saalia, sees a Zidigar Zidara, and runs for it's life. It jumps into Sol a few hours later, and is shocked at how primitive this race really is. The Voinians.. they have the Azdgari's respect for they had interstellar travel before the council was even created, but the United Earth humans.. they are pitiful! Their fighters dont have the armor of a voinian fighter or the shields of a crescent fighter! Pathetic... it is about to jump out, when they get a peculiar reading from their scanner.... The computer beeps at them and they notice something.. The crust of this planet has large traces of diamonds in it! A few tons of them have even been mined already, and lay on the surface! The Azdara speeds back to Azdgari space with the news, but it passes paaren, and is even more suprised!
There is half as much refined "diamond" on the surface of this planet as there is raw in the mines of earth, except easier to get to! The Azdara records all of this, then heads back to Azdgari space as fast as it can.....

"Sir! We've detacted a large Human renegade force! It seems to be going to the east of our space, but not attacking us.. it just went over us!"
"What? What are they doing? Whatever it is, I dont like it..."
"Send how many ships after him, sir?"

The United Earth fleet jumps into Troub, right smack into the bulk of the Voinian Space mines.
Carriers are the first to hit, many of them running into several mines before launching as many fighters as they can and blowing up in giant fireballs. Many of the destroyers are able to avoid the mines, and all of the fighters are. The ship count in Troub is 7 Carriers, 18 Destroyers, and 65 UE Fighters. They launch their hunter missiles as soon as they recover from the shock of the mines, and the fighters pass over the turncoats, taking a few out, before retreating for another pass....

Although surprised by the UE attack, the Renegade forces at Troub responded quickly to the UE assault. SAD's poured out of the Turncoats, blowing away 30 UE fighters. Helians form small packs, firing a burst of dispy rockets at a Destroyer before darting away, most times without suffering much damage. Meanwhile the Turncoats ganged up on the carriers, 3 to each, with Kraits chasing the remaining UE fighters.

Reports had come in of a spy trying to infiltrate a top research facility in Priat. Zacha troopers had arrested him and brought him to Mira for questioning.

The research base inside Keld was nearly complete. The construction workers had managed to drill into the asteroid without damaging its stability, so it was perfectly safe, and nearly undetectable. The AP turrets, which were nearly complete, would be installed next on the asteroid. SAO launchers would also be installed when the upgrade was done.

MCD had ordered several Crescent Fighters upgraded with extra fuel tanks, and sent out to explore. This had been done, and there was a CF approaching each sector of the galaxy. The first arrived at Sol.

The CF pilot was horrified at how bad the United Earth's technology was. Their fighter was slow, badly shielded, and not particularly well-armed. The destroyer was 1/2 the speed of the fighter and not very well shielded. The carrier was 1/2 the speed of the destroyer, and carried five fighters. We could probably beat them with a fleet of Aradas if we wanted, the CF pilot thought. There, of course, wouldn't be any point. The pilot sent out a message to Earth.

Somewhat later, Explorer 2 arrived in Voinia. The Heavy Fighter patrol fighters immediately attacked, but simply could not hit the speedy CF. The CF's pilot was amazed at the potency of some of the Voinian's technology. They needed better engines, obviously, but their armor was incredibly strong, and the neutron cannons they used extremely powerful. The Crescent could have a problem if this race mounted a campaign into their space. Explorer 2 sent a message to Voinia.

Cap'n Redeye orders the interceptors to break off the attack, and they go back to their stations. To protect the convoy, Cap'n Redeye begins developing the Voinian Gunship. It has shields equal to two thirds of a Frigate's, and weaponry consisting of ten Neutron Turrets, and four Rocket turrets, each with a magazine holding six missiles.

Paul stood in the breifing room in front of the other captains and commodores of the other newly refitted vessels. "Your missions are the same, patrol systems, engage Renegade vessels at will. Capture as many as possible for questioning, then space them. Employ your vessels as they are, warships. Don't be afraid to go head to head with a Renegade CW. Yours is better. If you find yourself being swarmed by fighters, run and call for the Zachit." The Zachit liason attached to the Warship Squadron nodded his head and then spoke,"We have a few new surprises for the Renegades. We are flying a few freighters around with cargo holds filled with troops. Others, explosives and AI crews. Watch yourselves. Some of these Renegades will have ships better than yours."

Paul released them after uploading their individual missions to their datapads, and then walked to his own ship, the M.D.S. Argentium Wing, a Command CW refit. He ordered that they immediately achieve orbit then go find some Renegades to decompress.

OOC: Are the Zachit separate from Miranu, I.E., their governments, as they were, research different things and don't receive techs from each other? Or do they?

Payback receives word that the spy was arrested, but just mumbles something about "expendable" and seeing if any other Miranu scientists gamble. But he got what he wanted. The direction that research was headed, as well as a start on the actual technology. Theirs may turn out differently, but it is a start, nonetheless. He orders the halting of all ship construction to focus on this research and the equipping of the fleet in the North Tip.

Payback is human, one of the few in the Strand wars at this moment. He was abducted by aliens, presumably a Strand race, when he was small. However, they did not count on his learning ability and ruthlessness; he quickly learned their language and customs, then shot his way out of the research facility. Disoriented, he turned to space bars to make a few credits, eventually moving his way up in the ranks of pilots enough to command his own ship, then group, then base, then all of the Renegades. He prefers to do battle from the bridge of his mighty warship, the Punishing One. Outfitted to the teeth, it is a fearsome vessel for its class.

The general attack on the Azdgari and the renegades had started at the same moment.

Midnight:

A joint task force of both the Zachit and the Zidagar on the Rock shook the world. (insert number) Zachit ships entered from the west the system and from the east, 27 Zidara and tirteen fighters started the carnage. The surprise on the renegade's side to see a perfectly synchronized arrival from both nations and the amplitude of the attack made their reaction childish.

One second past midnight:

The Azdgari system of Plogok is stormed by a rapid attack of 20 Zidara and fifteen fighters. Their mission was to create as much damage as possible in the least amount of time. As soon as they had killed at least one ennemy, they had to hyper back to Neholl and land in order to cover the future part of the plan.

Two seconds past midnight:

The same tatic will be employed on the base of Muid by the Zidagar fighters coming from Fluron. Embelishing foreign ways of making war is totally normal, this second raid in one second would be done in the same way, by 20 zidara and sixteen fighters.
A day before the attack, reinforcement had been sent from Vlagos to Terapin in order to repleced the warbirds that would be lost.

The number of ships had was now at the same level as before the attack by the Azdgari. In another three posts, 20 more zidara will be added to the count.

The research on the (to secret to tell) was going fine, in six posts, the first zidara would be equiped with it. and two posts later, all the Z.N.N..

The Punishing One , having been fitted with the prototypes for the new phase weapon, along with its four fighter escorts and two aradas, watches the battle from the edge of the system. Sure, he could jump in, rally his troops, salvage a few warships and retreat, leaving the Rock's existence on a timer to be discovered by the landing parties, but he wanted to observe his enemeny's tactics from here.

Suddenly a klaxon sounded. The Punishing One had been spotted, and two Zidaras were headed in Payback's direction. He orders full speed ahead, toward the warship, and orders his escorts to deal with Zidagar fighters.
In a head-to-head rush, the Zidagar run toward the fighters, not knowing what was in store for them. A bit out of normal firing range, the azdara are caught flat-footed by the improved range and rate of fire on the new fase turrets, and are quickly wiped out before them can get off more than a couple pointless shots.
Payback immediately yells, "Now!" as the Punishing One jams tranmissions enough that from this far away, the Zidaras would stand very little chance of getting communication through. The Punishing One closes swifty, then makes short work of the two batlleships from range, barely taking any damage.
"Now, helm, take us out of here. And arm the trip wires in the Rock. Make sure they hae a wonderful reception. We've got to get these prototypes back to the North Tip. They drained some shield energy when fired, and that sholdn't happen."
The Punishing One jumps out, still relatively unnoticed in the chaos at the center of the system.

Payback,although I'm not on this webstory,RED appears to be on his Christmas holidays or something,so I hope I can help clear up your problems.
I'd say you can research.After all,the Strand renegades are composed mainly of Strandless,who were chucked out of Strand society for various sins.
In all that number there is certain to be some scientists who defected to the Renegades.

As for the shipbuilding thing,basically,all your Strand Renegade bases,except Histiri Station,have shipyards,and can therefore build ships.
What you have to do is figure out a reasonable amount of ships to build each post,and then state that your building them,and voila!You have new ships.
Designing new ships is however a different matter;it's like a research project,you post the description of the ship and then a reasonable ETA(Your posts) until that ship is completed.When there's no research posts left,you can thenn build that ship.

Azdgari
Several Azdaras are destroyed before they realize that the mellow Zidagar are actually attacking, but then they get a hold of themselves, and 17 Adzgari Warships goes to Muid, and 15 to Plogok, but the Plogok fleet was joined after a short conflict by the A.S.S. Firebird, REDchigh's private Adzgari warship- more shields, more maneuverability, minus the fighter bay, but the whole ship accented with the Azdgari Phased beamer- the only prototype. Several Zidaras are quickly destroyed by heavy phase turret fire, and even though the Zidigar phased beams do damage against the Azdaras, the Phased Beam on the ASS Firebird does the same damage as 20 Zidigar beamers, with fighters caught in the beam quickly incinerated. The BAttle rages on, with another wave of 20 Azdaras ready to jump into both systems...

UE
The United Earth forces attacking Troub are shocked at the force of the human Renegade's new firepower, but the UE have more than a chance. The Destroyers, Clustered togther, launch their rockets in unison, sending 5 massive salvoes of rockets speeding towards the Renegades, taking out several turncoats and nearly a dozen helians with Blaze fire.
The UE send for Reinforcements, and within minutes, forces from Huron arrive- 10 destroyers and two carriers, which quickly launch their fighters, and nearly half the kraits go down under rocket and blaze fire.

We welcome your phase technology, for the human renegades are stronger than we expected. We would also appreciate any military assistance you could spare, although we understand if you decline- we wouldn't want to join any new wars either, if we were in your shoes.

Sorry about that.When I posted that only Page 1 was showing for some reason.
As for me playing council,I'm not really sure I want to,as the motives of the council are not clear at all,and they really need a clearly defined purpose before someone can play them.I do however like Council CWs.Have you ever met that pers,the "Angel of Death"?
