    • I'm still here, I just never made a fuss about leaving and coming back like some people have done, I just stop posting for a while and then start up some other time...

Anyway, many of the people are still around, and I'm sure that once EVN is released most of them will show up again, possible under different names for at least a little while.

"It seems to me that these "oldbies" are just another form of "newbie"."

More like they were newbies before and never took the mental step up from a newbie, and when they returned they still didn't get it.

    • Well, we veterans, "oldbies," or whatever we are (depending on how we handle ourselves here) stick around and talk, but I have to wonder whether anyone who's been around for so long still plays the game. (I actually poke around with it every once in a while)

And do we still remember the days before some of these people you're mentioning? How about people like Skyhawk (or whatever name he's going by now...what happened to Epsilon anyway?), or Stoffe (author of EVGE) or Jason Meltzer (creator of Arena, Foundation, and the EV Ship Design Contest)?

Speaking of the design contest, I'm in the preliminary stages of trying to cook up something like that again. Given my past record of finishing EV-related projects though, I'd say I have a 2% chance of following through on that. But I'll try anyway. 🙂

    • The term is oldies, (just so there aren't a million terms floating around 🙂 )

So newbie, regular and oldie, pretty much not defined, only thing they really are is how you handle yourself not how long you've been here, though usually there is a correlation. 🙂

    • Does anybody fondly remember the 'Search' facility?
And of course the "Search first, then ask!" movement that effectively killed conversation on the boards.

It was the best of times; it was the worst of times...

The golden age of the EV:O board, I must say. 🙂 I haven't seen LoneVoinian in ages, Buba barely ever posts, Flatty's on semi-hiatus, The Catacomb has changed nicks and doesn't post very often ... :frown: And the "search then ask" thingie never killed conversation, it just made it much more flame-filled. 😄

    • Buba's around. I see him on AIM every few days. I guess he's just been busy lately.
