      Many of you have been wandering where I've been (yeah, I haven't posted in a few days. Imagine that ;)), and my explanation for my absence is because of my work toward the new Saber Studios website and Zachit graphics. I've just completed my first graphics enhancer set, which is free for download (and can be viewed) at the web page. The site is intended to provide plugin developers with graphics, and I hope my first set will be of some use. It is called "The Zachit Graphics Expansion Set," and adds six new ships: all blue and flying for the Zachit government. This set (and those soon to come) are complete with shipyard, comm, target, icon, sprite and mask graphics, all fully rendered in 8-bit color and saved in PICT format (you'll need Stuffit Expander to unstuff the download files. Refer to the website for more information).

      Also, I've constructed a poll page. Here, all you developers who want to decide which graphics set (example: Azdgari, Igadzra etc.) you'd like to see next. If you get the chance, please feel free to vote, as I will get busy designing the next graphic sets depending on the poll results.

      I threw the webpage together in around an hour, and as basic as it is, I think it will do just fine. Please post your comments or critisizm, as feedback is very important.

    • Since my new website is actually intended for you Override developers, I just thought I'd drag it to the top to get a little more attention.

      I'm currently working on the Azdgari set, and I'll probably have it done in the middle or end of next week.

    • I'm sure that the picts weren't that bad when you made them, but they're all really small now. I think 8x8. The size of the cargo boxes in the res. If you repost them the correct size they'd be good tho, but when I tried to enlarge them their res was too low, and it well, I'll be blunt, they looked really bad. Of course, you could always use them to replace the escape pod pic...

      Oh, and it would be good to make the next ships voinian 😉

      It sounds like you have a very slow connection with loading problems. All images have been saved at 100% quality, and look very nice, so long as your browser will load them.

      The images which provide general information of the Zachit graphics set are 100 by 100 pixels: In other words, they way they will appear in Override. The target graphics is also previewed at 128 by 64 pixels (standard). This was intentional, as I want the viewers to see what they will look like in Override.

      Also, the only images you can "enlarge" are the sprites. I assume that was what you were referring to about the loading problems?

      Speaking of the Voinian set, I just finished the Heavy Fighter. But my next release will probably be Azdgari...

      To all you members: If the images don't load properly or look very low quality, it's your internet connection or browser (and sometimes f2s). If you download the set, everything is ready for use in Override, and at maximum quality as the Override engine will allow.

    • -REDCHIGH-: I just realized that your problem with "the low resolution" might be because all the graphics are already rendered in 8-bit color. In Override, however, this is as good as the graphics will look. The Zachit set should blend right in with other ships in the Override universe...

    • Umm have to say this although the fighter,Salada,Arada and Miranda are good,the rest(the heavier warships)are really small.
      Please try th fix this up in the Azdgari set,I like Azdgari,and I want more Azdgari,but only if the Azdgari are an appropriate size.

      I'd like some clearance on what you mean by "the ships being too small." In pixels, or some other I'm unaware of?

      Or are you referring to sprite size?

      They just look really small-even the largest appears as only the size of a UE Destroyer.

      Gotcha. I can fix that, and with no problem (might be a day or two, though). The Zerada actually isn't suppost to be all that big (it's like a Crescent Corvette), but perhaps I should enlarge the sprite size. Thanks for the verification.

      I'm am certain, however, that the sprite size of the Ardaza far surpasses that of the United Earth Destroyer. In my own opinion, I believe it is quite large enough.

      Go ahead. I actually believe the Zerada and Ardaza are at the shape I intended them to be. The Zerada is suppost to be somewhat small, intended as a hit-and-run, swift warship. The Ardaza is like a Zachit version of the Crescent Warship.

      By the way, I'm thinking about re-spinning the Azdgari and Zachit ships at an angle (so they'll have that 3D, MAGMA-looking appearance). Would any of you developers prefer this over top-down sprites?

      I hate 3/4 graphics,because they're incompatible with most other ships.
      ONLY do this if you're still going to supply top down versions.

      So far, I've spun all the Azdgari ships at a 3/4 angle. If demand is high enough, however, I'll also supply top-down views...

      By the way, I've completed four Azdgari ships. I plan on creating two more before releasing the set.

    • MAGMA was in 3/4 view and so is EVN. Personally I prefer it. The ships look very nice. Keep up the good work.

      I find your opinion much more common around here. Personally, I love the MAGMA graphics as well. Angled graphics look much better in Override and Escape Velocity than top-down sprites, and most developers would agree.

    • I, for one, agree. 3/4 graphics, in my opinion, look much more realistic than top-down ones. They also look cooler.

      Agreed. However, I've decided to include both 3/4 angled sprites as well as top-down views of the Azdgari Graphics set. This will make the download file somewhat bigger, but developers should find the graphics more compatible with their plugins.

      I'll try to have the Azdgari Graphics Set online by Friday or Saturday.

    • I see where shade is coming from though. I like 3/4 view but if you put these in with the regular game which is in top view, it'll look really... wierd. So, yeah do both 🙂

      Completely understood. I just got through testing the 3/4 sprite of the Azdara Gunshp (a cool, three-winged version of the Azdara), and it didn't blend in with the other ships of Override very well. The top down view, however, did perfectly.
