    • I had to pay a fine...

I was on Knox, and I went into the bar, and I get the usual bombardment of FE missions, but when I got passed all that, I got a mission, saying I had to appear in court for carrying illegal items on my ship. It said to go to Atlantic Station, and I went, and I had to pay a fine of 20% of my total money. The guy also said if I am caught with illegal stuff again, it won't be as easy as "this time". My question is, was whatever was illegal removed? Or do I still have it?

I got this when I bought space mines. Since they're illegal in UE space, if they catch you with them, they take 20% of your credits.

    • Yeah don't carry space mines in UE space.

No, they don't take the stuff off, it says that in the completion text. It isn't possibel with EVO to take away 20% of your credits and the bad outfits. I'm puzzled on how they know that you're carrying illegal stuff.

It isn't money that is bad, it is the love of it.

    • Well keep in mind that it was a joint UE/Voinian treaty to ban mines.

    • I had it in mind to create a 'micromine launcher' which hold loads of small mines. They aren't nearly as powerful as the standard space mine, but they don't weigh five tons each, and they don't total your own ship when you make those inevitable slip-ups which cause you to get caught in your own weapon's blast radius.

Trouble was, I couldn't think of any way to make AIs use the weapon against you. At least, not effectively. I don't believe there should be weapons that the player never sees used against him.

Have any of the plugs currently available featured a working AI-launched mine?

    • Ok, well, I've been switching back and forth between some pilots, and on one of them, I accidentaly bought a Krait bay. Don't ask how, and why. Is the Krait bay illegal? I also, earlier, tried space mines, but I ditched them before I got to UE space. Is it still illegal if you've owned space mines at one time or another?

    • I don't think the Krait bay is illegal. You should be fine.

Well, in certain missions (like when you're smuggling Saalian brandy for the renegades), they can scan your cargo hold, so I assume it wouldn't be much harder to just scan your ship and find the illegal weapons.

      ------------------

    • they don't scan you to find the mine launcher. rather, the outf sets a mission bit when you purchase it. and when you try to abort the "pay fines" misn, the penalty is 5x the reward, so instead of paying 20% of your credits, you lose them all!

    • Carnotaur - If the Krait bay isn't illegal, why did I get a fine? I ditched the space mines BEFORE I entered UE space, could they like smell the essence of space mines in my ship or something?
