I hate to tell you this Jon... but this is an EV Override web board, and the Argosy class belongs to the original Escape Velocity game not EVO. There is no ship class called "Argosy" in EVO (unless someone's made a plug-in).

A friend of mine once used a beefed up Miranu Courier...they're pretty strong, and they have lots of fuel. I used a scoutship until the dreadnought mission, simply because a lot of big ships have only about three jumps or something. Now, though, I used a modified Crescent warship...

Why is phonics not spelled the way it sounds?
Don't overlook the freight-courier. It's a human ship, so its performance isn't amazing, but there's plenty of space. It's a bargain at 1m credits... and the sprite looks pretty neat too. That ship sometimes features on my upgrade path... but I'd get a Lazira soon afterwards.
I've got a soft spot for the Emalgha freighter, mostly because of 'Splinter Group.' It's torture to try sailing around the universe in one, though. Too slow!
i used to use a freight courier with a zidagar systems upgrade and many modifications and upgrades. now i use a upgraded Igazra or a UE Cruiser with a UE fighter bay and a crecent fighter bay

I think F-C's are pretty good too. Before I figured out there were other aliens except the Voinians, the purpose of my EVO existence was to do enough missions to get a freight-courier...those were the days. But now, I love my CW a whole lot. With a thrust upgrade and engine upgrade, it's almost fast!!! Almost...
I would have bought an enhanced Azdara, but I started working for the Zidagar accidentally...those things are so FAST!!!!

Oh. If you put it like that Jon... a UE Cruiser with a pile of neutron cannons, Voinian armour, SAD launchers (in the crescent), Missile Launchers (In UE and Voinian space), Zidagar ECM's and any other upgrade I can get my hands on (that includes diospect amour and 4 sheild enhancers).

Do you people actually use fighters? I couldn't... they're extremely expensive and you lose a few of them all the time. That's why I'd never want to fly an Azdgari Warship (except a captured one, with the fighter bay sold and motion upgrades in addition to the built-in advantage over the CW... hmm... might be worth a try.)
I'd like to try out a Miranu Courier with Dospect and Zidagar beams though.

I agree about using fighters... that's why I usually fly my flag from an Arada. (You CAN complete the Adzgari missions in an Arada, did you know that? (So when I was ordered to sell my Adzara for a special mission, I didn't have to!!!)
Later on, though, I changed to an Adzara (I was having trouble with a UE mission against the renegades. I even asked this on the board.) Anyway, I switched, and was ABSOLUTELY amazed at what I had been missing.
But all around, I think I still prefer the Arada for missions. The Adzara is like a Dodge Viper - fun to take out for a spin, but not very practical...

Well, since I had to start over with EVO 1.0.2, I've been using a Cargo Transporter which is outfitted pretty well for a merchant trader type like me. But as soon as I have enough money, I'll probably get an Arada. That's what I've stuck with in the past, even whe I had enough money to get anything. But I like to explore and trade and run supplies and the like.

In my opinion, the ultimate trading ship is a nice, brand new Miranu Courier. I love being able to get halfway across the universe with one refueling.
