It isn't fair. In my school, they have wyndoze PCs which go at about 50 -100 mhz. When I tell people how good macs are, they say they are cr*p. They have never used one. They just read reviews and suchlike in PC magazines, which were, of course made on macs. It's maddening! Does anyone else have that?

I get a lot of that here...these Windows PC's aren't as bad as the ones you're talking about (the one I'm working on is about 600 MHz) but Macs are still so much better! Right now I'm at Jackson State University, in Jackson, MS, and there is not a single Mac in a computer lab here!!! But at Carnegie Mellon University, where I'm going in a semester or so, they have whole computer labs full of G3's...dozens of them...I can't wait to get there...

Funny, I've always been at a mac schools. My school has a mix of iMac DVs (the new ones with the optic mouse), Blue and White G3s, and PowerMac 5000/225s. The people here alwats say PCs are crap.

I bought a Venus Fly Trap today. I was going to name it 'Republican', but the fly trap is beneficial to the enviroment. I'll save that name - someday I might find a plant that eats poor people and minorities.

for me it's the opposite, i've never been in a school with macs, i've seen 2 or 3 in my current school but nothing more.

You lucky bum. My school has good computers too, just not as good. We got a whole slew of iMacs last year and they work just fine without the DVD crap and the optical mouse.

But everyone thinks they're crap! It's obscene! I'm the only Mac user in the whole school! They all hate Macs! I have a typing class at school (they call it Computer Sciences, but it's Typing), and it is SO dumb. We have to type "asdf asdf asdf..." over and over again. I'm done five minutes after class starts, because I'm pretty good at typing (65 WPM). It's an easy "A," but it is so boring!

I asked the teacher when we would start typing real words. Get this: He says, "Oh, around December." I'm going to ram my head through when of those crappy PC's if I have to keep learning the home keys for two months. Sorry for ranting, and thank you for listening...

The OS X you are bashing (most likely for no reason) is about the only thing that makes the G4 worthwhile. Unless you spend thousands of dollars on pro-software, you may as well stick with a G3 under Mac OS 9/8.

well screw them. in the lab we use for graphic design, etc, its mac only, and everyone hates them. they say "the iMac would be kewl if it wasnt a mac" oh right, if it wasnt a mac, it would be a beige, square box. and im sitting there, kinda laughing in my head that PCs will die within 5 years (i hope)

Yeah. Everybody thinks those 1Mhz Athlon thingies are faster than G4's, but they don't look at the statistics or that kinda things. In fact, they think that Mhz alone decides the speed of the computer. I wish they could see the new G4s I wish I had money to buy one of those...

OSX blows! It's like Windows for Mac! Have you ever seen the layout for it, or even used it? It sucks! We Mac users are getting less and less personalization and customization than ever! First they introduced that "launcher" sh*t, now they make an OS that's just like windows without the bugs! I think Imac's are a great step forward and so's the cube(that little S.O.B. is small!!!!!) but they should still make a type of Mac that veteran Mac users can get into, use and like! They should make one that doesn't start up with some B.S. prepackaged "tour around the Mac"
