I don't like the Azdgari. Basically, they're a bunch of wimpy pirates pretending to be a government. An Azdara is indeed nearly invincible when you outfit it right, but a mere nuisance when AI-controlled. In AI/AI combat, they're more successful than they should be, because the harried ship will waste too much time re-targeting. Also, if you pilot one, its hysterical maneuvering behavior will drive you nuts sooner or later.
The Azdgari warship sucks completely. You can take out its fighters within seconds with only three Miranu defense systems and a handful of pods. The remaining warship itself is killed just as easily as a Crescent warship. Also, if you pilot one, you'll lose the fighters extremely quickly, and at a million credits per piece, that's not worth it. Better sell the whole warship while it's still complete. It's friggin expensive.
On the other hand, the Zidagar and the Igadzra are both quite cool, although the Igadzra are a bit too unfriendly to be likable. The Zidara would be perfect if she had twice the fuel and a sellable fighter bay. I like the Igazra a lot, too. 500 shield points are nice to start with, and she's also reasonably maneuverable for her size (at least she used to, before the revision of EVO). Then again, it's weapons space is kinda limited, and the shields take ages to regenerate.
As for special tech... the phased beam is ass-kickin powerful in AI hands, but not very useful in an owned Zidara (I'd like to try it on an Igazra with 8+2 fuel units... :p). The plasma siphon doesn't work against fighters -- it just pushes them away rather than damaging them continuously. The Azdgari shield regenerators have no effect whatsoever on an ship larger than a fighter, so they only make sense on an Azdara.
