    • Is it possible to work for the Voinians?

Is it possible to work and take missions from the Voinians. After playing EVO since it was published as a beta, Ive never tried, it didnt even cross my mind to work for the Voinians. They are negative to you in the start of the game (I know the Igadzra is that as well but they only forbid you to land on their planets and if you blast some Zidagar's or Azdgari's they turn to your side fairly quick) and the Voinians just dont get me on their side. So is it possible to work for the Voinians?

    • Very sensible, Eirik!

Join the smart set. The UE are weak, cowardly and dull. Join the Voinians and Earth itself could be at your feet!

      Things you will probably need:-

A new pilot file. If you have ever done 'proper' missions from the UE, other than the Miranu diplomatic relations, you're never going to qualify.

A decent combat rating. Get better ship and go and burn some kraits and helians or something.

The plug-in 'Reign of the Voinians II' - the original Voinian mission string is quite short, and disappointing. Reign (preferably Reign II) makes things much more interesting, as well as uprating the Voinian ships that you might wish to buy.

The recruitment mission for the Voinians starts at Pax. You'll never have seen it before if your first Pax run was always to rescue the defector. The mission involves combat, and you'll have to get used to soaking up a lot of hunter missiles, sooner or later.

      It's good fun though!

      Don't like your planet
Think I'll lay it to waste

      Yeah, I'm Rambo in Space"

    • Hmph, joining the vionions?? If you ever cross me, I'll show my favorite Vionion dish.. raw vionion...

Very funny, now beam down my clothes. These ladies look rest-less..... uh-oh...

    • Come on over Eirik! The voieniens are the best if you like combat, and the only reason there ships lose some times is because the U.E's ships have guided missles. But I have destroyed at least 50 destroyers, 5 crusers and 10 carryers (plus there fighters) thruout my time as a voienien. 🙂

    • You can play for both the UE and the Voinians. If the UE get pissed at you, you can simply buy a fake ID. However the UE Frontier and Independent systems are not affected. If they hate you then you will have to please them the hard way.

It's much much harder (impossible?) to please the Voinians once you've screwed them, so it's best to be on their side first, then when you're completely done with their missions, get a fake ID and do the UE missions.

    • Coincidently, I've gotten to the exact point you describe. I did the Voinians some good turns, and got access to frigates and general "kill the human scum" type missions. I got a fake ID and worked for the UE, mostly greasing pirates, to get in their good books...
Long story short, I got everyone to like me, bought a voinian frigate, and got the cloaking device off the UE to successfully create the perfect ship.

Here's the problem. Despite being a role model accross Voinian space, the only missions they will give me are "kill some UE" and "kill some Emalgha". Why can't i get further into the Voinian plot? 😕 I'm getting very bored of massacaring UE destroyers

    • Grond: Are you using the 'Reign' plugs? The Voinian mission string in standard EVO is quite short. And dull.

Alien 5672: If you don't learn hoe to spell 'voinian' real soon, I will subject you to a two-hour session in the Photon Excruciator.

Lonevoienien: Your spelling is even worse. I can't believe they let you into our navy. I may have to send you on a suicide mission to Sol.

Toothpaste: Once you start doing military missions for the UE, you'll never get military missions for the voinians. And note that 'UE frontier' is a different numbered government to 'UE', so that's why the fake ID changes nothing there. Just kill ships of the side that doesn't own the space stations / planets, and run away from the rest. You'll soon be an upstanding citizen.

      ++++++

My problem is that a few buglets in 'Reign of the Voinians' are annoying me. I bought the uprated cruiser (8 purple-stuff turrets, 175 shields, 8 heavy fighters with a fast launch rate, two turreted rocket launchers...)

      1. I can't find a single planet that sells heavy fighters as 'ammo', so I can't replenish my losses, unless I board 'friendly' ships.

      2. Turreted rockets are dire. They always miss.

      3. Although my ship came with ten turreted weapons, if I sell off these outfits, they don't free up gun slots in the normal way. I wanted to replace some of the purple-stuff guns with yellow-stuff guns; I remove one and it still says 'can't have any more'... Remove another, and another... You have to go right down to only five guns before you can add anything new. sigh

      4. Apart from that, good plug!

      1. You need to complete the Voinian vs. Emalghia missions to get advanced technology such as cruisers, replacement fighters, turreted rocket launchers, and Bronev plating. It is sold on the more advanced planets, such as Voinia.

      2. Agreed. Turreted rockets aren't worth it except for AI driven ships. You might as well get plain old rockets.

      3. Ah yes... ~Bomb's supa-cruiser. 🙂 He didn't do the ship definition correctly in Reign I, so that although you start out with lotsa weapons, the weapon maximums are the same as in EVO. In Reign II ~Bomb set the cruiser back to normal to re-balance the game. To make up for it, he lets you buy an enhanced Dreadnought later. 😄

BTW, ~Bomb is almost done with another version of Reign II which fixes a bunch of bugs and inconsistancies I found. I also recommend skipping Reign I and playing purely with Reign II (it includes all of Reign I's missions).

So how did they let YOU into the empire calling neutron shots "Purple stuff" HMM Ambasedor????

    • Why don't you respond, Ambassidor? Can't take it when somebody finds falt with YOU instead of Vice-Versa?

    • UE Ships are the easiest to kill, nomatter what ship you have. They have shields so they're easily susceptible to dispy rockets and other artillery, any type of cannon, barring emalgha cannons, work well against them, and they have little or no protection against secondary weapons. If ya head out into the crescent everyone has protection against everyone else's missiles. UE has nothing. Bad lasers, bad secondaries, bad speed/turn rate. UE ships just generally suck.

Since UE Planets are conviniently located as fuel stops if you're going between areas of the galaxy, it is sometimes convenient to have a good standing with them. However, the planets are easy to take over (i haven't done Sol so i couldn't say about that one) but it's not too much trouble to just force your way onto one of them.

In other words, not only is it cooler 😉 to be sided with Voinians, but UE ships suck anyway...

    • Anyone who would work FOR the Voinians, AGAINST United Earth, must have a head full of rocks. Voinian ships are slow, clumsy, and useless (I took out a Voinian Cruiser in an unmodified Scoutship by just running rings round it and blazing away).

    • If the voinians are so stupid then how come there are not any plugs where you take over voinia? 'Cause you can take over earth in a plug. 🙂

    • sigh...

it's not the voinians that suck, moron.... it's the computer AI... **** "I took out a cruiser it my scoutship" well, whooooopdeee****ingdooo. I took out 5 UE Cruisers, 5 UE Carriers and 15 UE Destroyers in my Igazra. (And I'm very proud of my ability to handle a computer AI that has easily found weak spots)

whatever. Yes, the Reign plugs are a lot of fun. Try them.

And Ambassador... the reason you can't fill those rocket turret spots is cuz the Cruiser has a max of 6 (I think 6) turrets. The creator of ROTV filled it with 10 turrets initially (8 neutron, 2 rocket turrets) and you can't add until you're down to below 6.

    • Good ole Flat is right again.... As long as the AI is screwed, AAAAALLLLLLLLL ships AND species will suck! You can't say one species sucks, because YOURS also sucks!!! UE ships are simply standard, nothing bad, but nothing special. Voinions leen toward the strength side, big hefty SLOW ships... The crescent have ships meant for hit-n-run... Couldn't stand a head-on encounter with all the species in the galactic south, Vs or Hs, worth a crap...

So shut your mouth about,'these guys suck'....

EVERYONE sucks in their own little way...

      Yeah, escpecially the UE

    • Don't forget the emalgha. Their wepens are useles.

    • UE Fighter vs. Voinion Heavy Fighter: UE wins.

UE Destroyer vs. Voinion Frigate: UE wins.

UE Carrier vs. Voinion Cruiser: 50%/50%

Then I guess the Voinions are the suckiest of the sucky, huh joker? Have you ever sat there and watched the AI have it out?

    • Don't forget that the Voinians are fighting on 2 fronts, not 1 like the U.E. The SECOND a cresent race started trying to counqur U.E. space they die. Even the emalagha(However sucky they be) could turn the tide of the war if the allied with the voinians.
