    • The key to a Voinian Dreadnought

Does anyone know the easiest way to capture this big arz ship. It's been my dream to try and obtain it w/an Enhanced Arada or an Azdagari Warship.

      ------------------
The world today is absolutly bonkers, with nuclear bombs that can blow you sky high...
In my opinion, an afterburner is essential to every ship regardless.

    • I've never done it myself, but from what I understand, you want a ship with the highest number of crew members as possible...that increases your chances of capturing it.

NOTE: I think you have to abort the mission in order to try to capture it.

      ------------------
Now, what's a good idea for something to put in my signature?

    • That is so. 🙂 It's loads... and an Arada has something like 6 I think. Good luck. 😄

      ------------------
TIP: To get bloodstains out of clothes, soak them in cold water for five minutes before sticking them in the wash. Lifts out the blood lovely. No-one need ever know.

    • Heh, I once captured the Dreadnought in an Igazra... I used it as an escort cause i didn't wanna deal with the UE attacking me all the time.

However, if you want to take with with an En. Arada, you're in for several days of trying. As if taking it down on your own doesn't take long eough, you'll be doing it in a light destroyer several hundred times if you're unlucky (seeing as how the dreadnought has 2000+ crew).

      Goodluck.

      ------------------
      Insanity has its advantages
"I- I Swear Officer.. The Dwarf was on fire when I got here!"
Sorry -REDCHIGH-, It just fit so well.

    • Well i remember when i first destroyed the dreadnought that an easy way to do it was to stay away from it. Stay infront of it slowly and when it gets close enough you shoot and move up a little and just keep shooting. Thats an easy way for you to disable it without any escorts but if your gonna try and capture it gl.

      ------------------

    • YES! I JUST CAPTURED IT!

I used a UE Carrier (it has the largest number of crew in the game except for the Dreadnought and the UE Cruiser, neither of which are really accessible at that time). The first few times I had a 1% chance of capturing it...no surprise, my attempts were unsuccessful.

However, on maybe my 4th or 5th try, it was 6% (I have no idea why it changed). I tried to capture it and got super-lucky...I got it! (I'm using it as an escort...it's so slow I don't want to use it!)

Word of advice: If you capture it, be sure you have 1 million or more credits. Capturing it instead of destroying it tends to REALLY make the UE mad at you, so you'll have to go to a Renegade planet and purchase a Fake ID.

Now to up my legal status a bit so I can go destroy the "real" one and complete the mission...you have to be a Good Egg to get the mission.

NOTE: You have to abort the mission BEFORE attempting to board the Dreadnought. I tried to board it once and realized I forgot to abort, so I did, but I still couldn't board it.

(This message has been edited by Lord Seth (edited 04-12-2004).)

    • You should have captured it. Then you could have gone up to Miranu space and get some speed upgrades.

      ------------------

    • The thing about taking it to the shops is that well, you lose all the cool stiff when you do that. Actually I wonder if you can have the UE Cruiser before attempting to capture it or if you have to mess and destroy the Dreadnought before you get the Cruiser.

    • No you do not need to get the cruiser first. It can help though.

I got the luckyest of any of you. I captured it on the first try in a crew -of-one ship. I had a super duper Azdara, had so many shield recharge enhansors that it was almos invincible. But that wasn't important. I defeted the dreadnought in this ship, and then on a sudden inspiration I aborted the mission, hopped over and boarded it. I took what I could from in and then did what I always do when I board a ship, steel everything and it still hasent exploded, i attempted to capture it even though there were only 1% odds. Next thing I knew I was being asked to name my new ship. Boy, I must say that I almost felt sorry for the poor foolish destroyers that attacked me after that. The dreadnought was so powerfull that I never was destroyed.

Cmon people, the (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number;=20&SUBMIT;=Go")Chronicles(/url) are worth looking at.

    • I have a question though, is it true that if you land w/the Dreadnought as your ship and you enhance it in the outfitters, you lose all the prized salvo Rockets and enhanced nuetron turrets? I have captured the ship before but I made it as an escort to aid in the capture of planets instead of making it my own ship.

    • Yep, you lose the very special weapons, as there are no correponding outfits (in the EVDC we are used to all that).

One thing; the azdgari warship is just a crescent warship with both the SAD and crescent bay sold, an azdara bay, slightly better shields, and a nice green color ;). That's it, really, not something really different like the drednough.

No, it was me who captured it, you're the one who put it up on EVula's website, remember?

      ------------------
I've captured a Voinian Dreadnaught in an Igadzara and a raven in the EVN non-registered, what have you done?

    • It is possible to capture but if you really want it more than luck needs to be involved. You need to get technical.

Aquire a Voinian warship. It is the ship with the largest crew in the game bar dreadnought itself. You won't get a warship and the UE mission string together - the only way is capture or cheating. Other warships or frigates must be captured to buff up your numbers - don't get more than five or you'll reach your maximum number.

Take the mission and abort it as you enter the system. Be prepared to fight the destroyers who will most likely attack you when they enter the system. Take down the dreadnought and board.

Generally you will get 10-15% chance of capture (the highest possible in the game). This will take roughly 10 tries. Take it as an escort or it will (as mentioned before) lose all those lovely outfits.

After your first capture it's easy. The odds are put up to roughly 20% which vastly increases the chance of capture. After about four or five tries you should have two and so on. Release your smaller escorts as neccesary (disable the dreadnought, release an escort, board).

I've never managed to get six (couldn't be bothered) but I got three without cheating - well, maybe I used a money cheat to get me there faster 🙂

And that is how. Happy hunting.

Yes you can, as you can do both the Voinian and UE string without cheating.

    • Yep, but can you take both strings up to there?

Yep yep, you just need to do it in a certain order, so you don't accidentally blow up an important planet.

    • Opalius is correct. You can finish both the UE and Voinian strings if you wish.

      ------------------
Why are there no maroon ships?

    • So you can finish both! I supose basically you do Voinian first, then UE (so as to spare those so important Voinian outposts)? You already taught me (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum8/HTML/003607.html")long ago(/url) it was possible at all, and now it's possible to the end... crazy.

    • I've seen lots of people post about capturing the dreadnought during the DESTROY mission... and I've seen people post about not doing the OBSERVE mission until they had their final ship, so they could transfer the U.E. Cloak by aborting the observe and getting it again... So, that's what I was doing... not observing... built up a nice U.E. Cruiser, had another Cruiser escort, an Azdgari Warship, and two Zingara Warships... finally decided to try capturing the dreadnought... by aborting the OBSERVE mission when I went there... Took me 8 tries but I got it... then I thought... well... let's see... and got another one 11 tries later. Still haven't done the OBSERVE mission... I don't know if aborting the OBSERVE mission gives as much penalty as aborting the DESTROY mission... but now I captured a Cresent Warship, thinking it'd give me my two day jumping back (SIGH) ... So, having the OBSERVE mission still abortable gave me my cloak back. No cheating at all. (I'm using EVO tc on EVN 1.0.6 for Windows if anyone thinks that makes a difference) All I'm using is all the CFN plugins and disappearing outfs fix, and evo4evnfix1_0... wonder why they don't show up on the plugins list.
